Marketing Support at Butler

Every day, marketing shapes how people experience Butler—from prospective students and families to alumni, donors, and the broader community. To maximize that impact, University Marketing leads the stewardship of the Butler brand, focusing its expertise where it can make the greatest institutional impact.

Beginning in August 2026, University Marketing shifted from a service-based model to a strategic engagement model. Support is not determined by division, college, or unit. Instead, all work is prioritized based on the nature of the initiative and its impact on institutional goals. We now focus primarily on work that advances Butler’s enterprise brand, enrollment priorities, and institutional reputation, while equipping campus partners with the tools and resources they need to confidently bring the Butler brand to life within their own areas.

This page explains what we lead, where we partner, and the resources available to help move your work forward.

Where We Focus

University Marketing concentrates its expertise where it can have the greatest institutional impact. We lead in some areas, partner in others, and empower campus to lead elsewhere.

Enterprise

LEAD

We shape how Butler is experienced by leading institutional brand strategy, storytelling, and reputation-building initiatives.

Enrollment

LEAD

We design integrated marketing solutions that inspire prospective undergraduate and graduate students to discover Butler, apply, and enroll.

Advancement

SHARED

We partner with Advancement Marketing to align campaigns and fundraising initiatives with Butler’s institutional brand.

Arts • Athletics • Entertainment

SHARED

We partner with Butler Athletics, the Butler Arts and Events Center, and the Jordan College of the Arts to elevate Butler’s most visible moments.

Academic Program Marketing

As Butler’s academic portfolio continues to grow, University Marketing has adopted a scalable, tiered model aligned with enrollment strategy and institutional priorities.

How Other Work Gets Done

Our role isn’t to do every project—it’s to create the systems and provide tools to help great marketing happen across Butler. For projects outside University Marketing’s primary areas of focus, campus partners can choose from three pathways.

Updated Support Areas

To better support Butler’s institutional priorities, we’ve updated how we approach several core marketing functions. Explore the areas below to learn what has changed and where to find guidance.
