Undergraduate Programs
In the College of Education, we see you—your passions and ideas, your strengths and opportunities for growth—and we help you integrate these seemingly disparate elements into a meaningful life and career. And, since all of the majors in COE offer direct admission, you’ll be fully immersed in classroom and community settings starting with your first semester.
Once at Butler, you’ll work side-by-side with faculty in a variety of field-based experiences as you begin to integrate theory into practice. These experiences, along with thought-provoking coursework, will prepare you to lead in a way that is engaging and inspiring.
Choose Your Path
Flexibility
Common foundational coursework in early semesters allows students the flexibility to make adjustments to either their major or their minor. Students can also choose from many different licensure and concentration options, depending on their major.
Teach Anywhere
Reciprocity
After meeting the requirements for an Indiana teaching license, students can take steps to transfer their license anywhere—often with full reciprocity.
Experiential Education
Intensive Capstone Experiences
No matter your major, you will benefit from an experiential education. Elementary Education students complete one year of full-time student teaching and Middle Secondary students complete one full semester. Youth and Community Development and Kinesiology majors will spend one semester in a full-time internship of their choosing.
Explore Your World
Study Abroad
We encourage students to study abroad—either through a full semester program or a short term opportunity. We recognize the value of a global perspective for educators.
