Internships
Experiential learning is a critical part of a student’s education in the College of Communication. Internships are available to our students in the fall, spring ,and summer semesters. One of the great advantages of being a Butler CCOM student is the opportunity to intern in a major media market in Indianapolis. Many of our students do multiple internships because they can intern in Indianapolis and take classes at Butler at the same time. Some CCOM students will also do internships in other cities or even other countries!
Please contact Prof. Bob Schultz, internship director , if you have any questions.
Each department in the College of Communication has its own prerequisites that must be met before a student can do an internship for academic credit in that department. Please remember that internships are not required in all CCOM departments and students are not required to do all internships for academic credit.
If a student is not doing an internship for academic credit then that student does not need to submit any paperwork to Butler. That internship agreement is strictly between the student and the company/organization.
Internships for academic credit must last at least 10 weeks. Students receiving up to three credit hours must work at least 15 hours per week at the internship site. Students receiving six credit hours must work at least 30 hours per week at the internship site.
