Chemistry Student Resources
ChemDraw allows you to view and manipulate chemical structures and molecular models online, without the capability to print, save, copy or paste a modified drawing.
Spartan Student is a molecular design program used to generate correct geometry structures, compute thermodynamic heats of reaction, determine R or S conformations, predict NMR and IR spectra, compute dipole moments, render electrostatic maps of high and low electron density, and much more. The GUI rendering of molecules is the same as in your textbook.
Spartan Student is available to Butler students for $25 by putting the coupon code: BUTLER25 in the coupon code window when you go to download your copy. This program works on Windows or Macs.
Our department has a variety of equipment for students to use in laboratory course work and in faculty mentored undergraduate research. The equipment is meant to provide students with a hands-on experience in sample preparation, data collection and data analysis. Students may begin to use instrumentation as early as second semester of their first year of study, but will routinely use the instrumentation during upper level laboratory courses.
