Your Doctor’s Office Away from Home

Clinical services that are offered during an appointment with a provider may include:

  • Primary care
  • On-site MD/NP/PA appointments for acute and minor illnesses or injuries
  • Minor excision and laceration repair and other minor office procedures
  • Gender-specific care including PAP smears, breast exams, pelvic exams
  • Contraceptive education including oral prescription, long-acting reversible contraceptives (i.e.,  IUD & implantable device), and emergency contraceptives
  • Sports/fitness physical and/or injury evaluation
  • Travel health
  • RN assessment and consultation
  • Health and self-care education
  • Coordination of care with Counseling and Consultation Services
  • Coordination of care with Student Disability Services
  • Collaboration with Health Education
  • Rapid strep, mono
  • Flu testing and prevention
  • Get Yourself  Tested – STI, STD, and HIV testing
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Urinalysis testing
  • Nebulizer treatments
  • Ear irrigation
  • Allergy shots (students must provide BUHS with their own serum and orders from the allergist and complete allergy injection forms)
  • Routine and Travel Health Immunizations
  • Annual Flu shots
  • PPD (TB) skin testing and interpretation
  • Resource for health information or consultation
  • Access to full Reference Lab Services—Cost of analysis is billed by Mid America Lab (Quest) or to patient
  • Outside provider lab tests may be drawn with a provider order. Results will be faxed to ordering provider.
  • Crutch rental
  • Sharps containers for diabetic students/other injectable medications
  • Medications ordered by the BUHS providers can typically be dispensed on site
  • Many OTC are also available at BUHS
  • Referrals to community physician or specialist if services extend beyond our scope of care
