Save the date! We look forward to seeing our Butler families at Family Weekend 2022

Friday, September 30—Sunday, October 2, 2022.

An email communication will be sent to all families and students when the registration form is live.

  • Events are open to all Butler students and their families. You can join by yourself or make a plan for your family to participate with you.
  • All families and students will receive registration information via email when registration opens.

Friday, October 1, 2021

2:00 – 5:00 PM Theatre Department Reception Lilly Hall Studio Theatre Lobby (Map) Join the Theatre Department for light refreshments and take the opportunity to peek in the Studio Theatre to view technical work with lighting for the Department’s production of We Are Proud to Present. 
3:15 PM Jummah Prayer Holcomb Building, Room 132 (Map) Join the Muslim Student Association for Jummah Prayer.
4:00 – 6:00 PM Family Weekend Information Health and Recreation Complex (HRC), Living Room (Map)  Come to the Family Weekend Information table to receive pre-registered items and ask any questions of the Office of New Student & Family Programs staff.
5:00 – 6:30 PM Lacy School of Business Reception Dugan Hall Atrium (Map)  Join the Lacy School of Business for a reception featuring opportunities to mingle with the Career Mentor and Career Consultant team, tours of Dugan Hall, and a keynote presentation “LSB Ranked #1 in Internships and Career Development Highlights.” Light Appetizers and Beverages will be served.
6:00 PM Shabbat Dinner and Services Efroymson Center for Creative Writing (Map) Join Hillel for Shabbat Services with dinner to follow.
7:30 – 9:00 PM Netflix “Dogs” Viewing and Q&A with Blue Atherton Union, Reilly Room (Map)
8:00 PM Holcomb Observatory Planetarium and Telescope Viewing Holcomb Observatory Planetarium (Map)  Come to the Holcomb Observatory for a Planetarium show followed by a telescope viewing of Saturn and Jupiter, weather permitting. Doors open at 7:30pm.

Admission is $5 for children and students under 18 years old and $8 for adults.  Cash or credit is accepted. Butler students are admitted at no charge.

9:30 – 11:30 PM Trivia Atherton Union, Reilly Room (Map)  Bring your family team to play trivia and win prizes! Free to participate.

    • Butler offers many programs for students to study abroad and experience different cultures. Learn more about the world of opportunities available to Butler Students
  • Student Involvement
    • Butler has over 140 student organizations and even more ways for your student to get involved. Learn more about supporting your student’s leadership and involvement on campus.
  • Sorority Life: Past, Present and Future  
    • Butler has 7 Panhellenic Sororities. Come learn from members of the Panhellenic Executive Board about the history of Butler’s sorority life, ask questions about recruitment process, and see virtual tours of each of the chapter houses on Butler’s campus.

9:00 AM – 4:00 PM The Nutcracker Rehearsal Viewing Lilly Hall Rooms: 310, 319, 077, and 075 (Map) Butler University Department of Dance is preparing for their winter showing of the Nutcracker. Stop by and observe as the Department of Dance rehearses for the Nutcracker.

9:30 – 11:30 AM Butler Dining Snacks Health and Recreation Complex (HRC) Lobby (Map)  Stop by the Butler Dining Table in the HRC Lobby to have a sweet treat (fruit and donut hole kabobs) and learn more about Butler Dining!
10:00 – 11:00 AM Bulldogs & Bandanas Session 1 Fairview House: Community Room  (Map) Join the student organization, Blue Key, for a little sibling friendly opportunity to build your very own bulldog and design a bandana for it to wear!

$15 for each Bulldog

12:00 – 3:00 PM Men’s Football vs Drake University Sellick Bowl (Map) Watch the Butler Bulldogs take on the Drake Bulldogs!

12:30 – 2:30 PM Guided Tours of the Sciences’ Expansion Project Sciences Expansion (former entrance to Holcomb Building) (Map)  A limited number of spaces are available for a guided tour of the Sciences Expansion, which opened to students Fall of 2021.

Come get a first-hand look at the impact this is having on our campus.

Tour times: 12:30 – 1:00 PM, 1:00- 1:30 PM, 1:30-2:00 PM, and 2:00– 2:30 PM with capacity for 30 people at each time.

2:00 PM Shen Yun Clowes Memorial Hall (Map)  Shen Yun presents an epic production that takes you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. Featuring one of the world’s oldest art forms – classical Chinese dance – Shen Yun brings to life the enchanting beauty and profound wisdom of ancient China.

Tickets are available online via the Butler Arts and Events Center website.   

3:00 – 4:30 PM Family Small Group Jordan Hall, Room (Map)  The Office of New Student and Family Programs invites visiting families to the Family Small Group. The Family Small Group will provide space for participants to meet other families, reflect on their role in their student’s educational journey, and share strategies with others during Family Weekend.

Free, Reservations encouraged.

3:30 – 4:30 PM H(our) BUDM Atherton Union, Reilly Room (Map) Join Butler University Dance Marathon (BUDM) for an interactive banquet where you can experience an hour of Butler University Dance Marathon. Your ticket will include access to a silent auction and an array of appetizer food options. From Morale dances to Guest speakers, you won’t want to miss this BUDM Experience, all for the children at Riley! We hope you will join us in the movement to advocate for Riley Hospital for Children.

There are two sessions offered:

  • 3:30 – 4:30 PM
  • Dress is casual or Butler Spirit Wear!

4:00 – 5:00 PM Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) Open House Cru House

519 W. Hampton Drive (Map) 

Join us for an open house for families of students involved in Butler CRU or if you are interested in learning about CRU.
5:30 PM Indianapolis Symphonic Choir: Musical Majesty of Choir and Organ Schrott Center for the Arts (Map)    Join the Butler Arts and Events Center for this presentation of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. The program includes favorites by Gabriel Fauré, Charles-Marie Widor, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and highlights Black composers David Hurd and Francis Smith Thomas (a close friend of and composer for Coretta Scott King).

7:00 – 9:00 PM Men’s Soccer vs. Seton Hall University Sellick Bowl (Map)  The Butler Bulldogs take on the Seton Hall Pirates in this Big East matchup.

Sunday, October 3, 2021

10:00 AM Catholic Mass Atherton Union, Reilly Room (Map) Join the Butler Catholic Community for Catholic Mass.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Build a Breakfast Pizza  The Marketplace at Atherton Union (Map)  Come make a fruity breakfast pizza with your sibling! Try a new food, master your knife skills, and learn about the benefits of a balanced breakfast. Space is limited to 10 sibling pairs.

The Family Weekend apparel is available through a Butler Alumna owned business, Your Image Works.

Orders  will be processed through a separate virtual store through Image Works, our apparel partner.

The design can be ordered in a t-shirt, long sleeved T-shirt, or crewneck sweatshirt design.

Orders will be shipped to the address of the purchaser. Orders will not be available for pick up during Family Weekend.
