Butler Summer Institute

The Butler Summer Institute (BSI) provides students interested in conducting independent research/creative endeavor under the supervision of a faculty mentor with a $4,500 stipend and no-cost, on-campus housing.

Our Programs

Pre-Professional School Advising

Our mission is to assist, equip, and empower Butler students to pursue a professional school education, including pre-law and pre-health advising. We do so by advising you on issues related to selecting and applying to professional schools, organizing guest speaker and workshop events, providing mentoring and networking opportunities, and maintaining a resource library at our office. 

Washington, DC Learning Semester

When it comes to providing students with career-building internships, no other venue quite compares with Washington, DC. Join students from other universities who are living, learning, and interning in the nation’s capital during the Washington, DC Learning Semester. Earn Butler credit by taking classes on foreign policy and the history and public art of Washington while engaged in real-life internships with governmental offices and agencies such as Congress and the White House, as well as with organizations such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Amnesty International, Merrill Lynch, and C-SPAN. Learn more.

Butler Honors Program

Some 5–10 percent of Butler’s students participate in the Honors Program. Join other students and faculty in discussions, projects, field trips, and cultural experiences. And by doing so, earn a diploma with magna or summa cum laude honors. Learn More.

Undergraduate Research Conference

Submit your research to be showcased with over 900 student presentations from 25 academic areas at the annual URC, one of the largest interdisciplinary undergraduate research conferences in the country. Learn More.
