Physical fitness is achieved by choosing a lifestyle that leads to improved levels of cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility as well as the achievement and maintenance of a healthy body weight. Our personal training service strives to serve Butler University and the surrounding community by meeting the needs of our clients. Our trainers will create a personalized program for you to help you achieve fitness-related goals specific to you and your lifestyle.

Are you a student interested in becoming a Certified Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor? This course may be for you! We are pleased to announce that we will be offering an In-House Certification course for both Personal Training and Group Fitness. This course will take place throughout the Spring semester of 2021. If you are interested, please fill out this form. Please contact dscripter@butler.edu if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. For more information, continue reading.

General Course Information: This 12-week course (PT) or 8-week course (GFit) will consist of both a lab and lecture portion to ensure that you are prepared and well-equipped to achieve your goals and pursue your interests. You will be working alongside other students, HRC-employed personal trainers, and group fitness instructors. Technique and skill will be taught directly from ACE, by qualified employees at the HRC.

Location: HRC Conference Room 154 (by the ping pong table if entering through the doors closest to Hinkle Fieldhouse)

Expectations: You will get out of the course what you put into the course; however, taking the course does not ensure a certification. You must pass the written exam administered at the end of the 8 or 12-week period. You must also complete a “mock training” session or “audition” with one of the instructors. It is crucial that you demonstrate proper rapport, technique, communication skills, and ability to ensure you are well-equipped and prepared for the job. Students that achieve a certificate must commit to at least one year of training or teaching at the HRC.

Estimated Price:

Personal Training: We are able to offer you a deal! The course is estimated to cost around $600 total. A typical national certification costs anywhere from $800-$1400, so take advantage of the opportunity and get a kick start on your career or side hustle. We are here to help you, please reach out to dscripter@butler.edu with any cost concerns.
