Blue’s Closet
Did you know that fast fashion— the quick production of inexpensive, trendy clothing—is responsible for 10 percent of global carbon emissions, pollutes waterways with dyes, yarn preparation, and fiber production, and is the second biggest industry consumer of water? In fact, it takes 2,000 gallons of water to produce a single pair of jeans.

Reducing your pawprint has never been so stylish. Blue’s Closet — a Butler-based thrift store — allows our community to minimize our environmental impact by reducing clothing waste and new clothing demand.
This student-led business provides the Butler community with the opportunity to shop sustainably and affordably, right here on campus. Blue’s Closet serves as a way for individuals to reduce their environmental impact and easily access inexpensive clothing by donating gently used clothing and shopping second-hand.
Additionally, Blue’s Closet being a student-led enterprise encourages interdisciplinary collaboration amongst its student interns and a mentorship committee made up of Office of Sustainability staff and Lacy School of Business faculty, providing leadership and entrepreneurial experiential learning while serving Butler’s sustainability goals. This enterprise highlights the importance of keeping sustainability at the forefront of business.
Blue’s Closet is available as a series of clothing collection drives and pop-up shop events. Follow @bluescloset.bu for updates.
