Dean’s Chat
A Dean’s Chat is an in-person, one-on-one conversation. It will typically be with the Dean of Students, but could be with another professional staff member from our office.
We reach out to schedule a Dean’s Chat when we have questions about something we have been made aware of, or possible concerns about something that may involve a student, and it’s just easier and better to have that meeting in person. Our main goal is to check in, hear your perspective directly, and determine how we can best support you.
What You Need to Know
What is the meeting about?
The staff member reaching out to schedule your meeting won’t have the specific details to share with you. Don’t worry. All of your questions will be answered during the meeting, where we will share the necessary information and discuss it together.
The meeting is required.
Not wanting to come to the meeting or wondering why you were contacted is certainly okay. Not showing up isn’t. It’s important to remember that we have a specific reason to meet with you, and we expect that you will attend.
No conduct record.
This meeting is not included in your student conduct record.
We’re on your side.
We want to help you find the right resources and support so you can focus on your life as a student, both inside and outside the classroom.
