Housing Assignments Part 1 of 3

Residential College

Residence Life

Moving into your first place away from home is a liberating, exciting time. And at Butler, you’ll share the experience with new roommates and neighbors, all part of a campus community that make residence halls feel more like homes. Some of your best relationships will begin right here. Nearly all incoming freshman, and most sophomores and juniors, live on campus. You’re never far from anything you need—your classes, the library, the HRC, and late-night snacks are always within walking distance.

The Residence Life Office is responsible for promoting and maintaining an environment on campus where students are free to develop academically and socially. Developing a sense of personal and communal responsibility and respecting the rights of others also is an important part of this program. Residence Life staff members oversee the management of Butler’s three residence halls and two apartment-style options.

Make your next four years your best four years!

Housing FAQs

What should I bring with me for my room? Will my TV get any reception? Do I have to live in a dorm? For answers to these questions and more, visit the housing FAQ page.

Campus Dining

It’s hard to miss “home cooking” when you have it right here at Butler. Grab a bite with friends at one of Butler’s many dining locations, or re-fuel at Starbucks. You’ll find a variety of fresh-made foods and snacks to keep you powering through the day.

Campus Living Highlights

Health & Recreation Complex

Right next to the Hinkle Fieldhouse is the massive Health & Recreation Complex (HRC). Inside is everything you could ask for—basketball courts, a six-lane swimming pool, group fitness classes, an elevated indoor track, three fitness floors, and more. Take your friends with you because all students have year-round membership to the HRC.

Living Learning Centers

Freshman Living Learning Centers (FLLCs) are an exciting approach to combining residential and academic life at the University. Located in both Ross Hall and Schwitzer Hall, the FLLCs give freshman the opportunity to connect, learn from and socialize with faculty outside of the traditional classroom. Learn More.
