Current Fellows

2023 -2025 Fellows

Hanna Owens, PharmD, graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2023. In addition to Hanna’s PharmD coursework, she published a continuing education article entitled “A Review of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists in the Management of Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity”. During her time in pharmacy school, she served as both an inpatient and outpatient pharmacy intern, where she discovered her passion for improving patient outcomes through medication safety. Her professional interests include medication safety, fraudulent medications, chronic weight management, and type 2 diabetes. In her free time, she enjoys golfing and attending fitness classes. She is currently completing a two-year Medication Safety Fellowship partnered with Butler University, Eli Lilly, and the FDA.

Rachel Matthews, PharmD, graduated from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 2023. During her time in pharmacy school, she was able to engage in a variety of projects and research opportunities that helped to solidify her desire to pursue a career in pharmacovigilance. Her current professional interests include improving medication safety, with a focus on how technology can be adapted to advance current practices. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, staying active, and spending time with family and friends. She is currently completing a two-year Medication Error Pharmacovigilance and Risk Management Fellowship at Butler University, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and the FDA between 2023-2025.

2022–2024 Fellows

Lauren Reinhard, PharmD, graduated from the University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy in 2022. In addition to Lauren’s PharmD coursework, she completed a certificate in Clinical Trial Research and Design. During her time in pharmacy school, she served as a graduate research assistant in global health outcomes in collaboration with Eli Lilly and company. In this role, she completed various projects to identify the association between treatments or interventions and patient results. Her professional interests include medication safety and global health. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and finding new activities and restaurants in town. She is currently completing a two-year Medication Safety Fellowship partnered with Butler University, Eli Lilly, and the FDA.

Zarnab Jillani

Zarnab Jillani, PharmD, graduated from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at St. John’s University in 2022. During her time in in pharmacy school, she was exposed to medication safety during multiple projects and publications that she worked on which led her to pursue a career in medication safety. Her current professional interests lie in improving medication safety in the rare disease space and within institutions. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. She is currently completing a two-year Medication Error Pharmacovigilance and Risk Management Fellowship at Butler University, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and the FDA between 2022-2024.

Karolina Cieslak, Pharm D, Global Patient Safety and Pharmacovigilance Fellow

Karolina Cieslak

Karolina Cieslak received her PharmD degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021, after completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Loyola University Chicago. During her time in pharmacy school, Karolina has published articles relating to regulatory compliance, medication errors, and marketing and labeling optimization in the Journal of Validation Technology (JVT) and the Journal of GXP Compliance (GXP). She also served as a pharmacovigilance intern at AbbVie where she analyzed post-marketing surveillance data of drug adverse effects. Her professional interests are in medication safety, regulatory science, and medical writing. She is currently completing a two-year medication safety fellowship in partnership with Butler University, Eli Lilly, and the FDA.

Vraj Patel, Pharm D, Medication Error Pharmacovigilance Error and Risk Management Fellow

Vraj Patel, PharmD, graduated from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2021. During his time in pharmacy school, he served as a pharmacovigilance intern at GSK and researched how a medication safety comic series can positively impact patient safety through education. His professional interests include medication safety, global health, and data science applications. In his free time, he enjoys checking out new restaurants in town, traveling, and hanging out with friends. He is currently completing a two-year Medication Error Pharmacovigilance and Risk Management Fellowship at Butler University, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and the FDA between 2021-2023.

2020–2022 Fellows

Irene Lin, Pharm D, Regulatory Pharmaceutical Fellowships- Medication Safety

Irene Lin

Irene Lin obtained her Pharm.D. degree from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus in 2020. In addition to Irene’s Pharm.D. coursework, she has also completed two additional tracks of training on research and leadership, respectively. As the recipient of the Melendy Peter’s Research Scholarship, her research focuses were on drug delivery and translational science in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. She also served as a Research and Development Pharmacy Intern at Y.S.P. Pharmaceutical Company, Malaysia, during pharmacy school. Her professional interests are in medication safety, regulatory science, specifically in the area of oncology with artificial intelligence and big data applications. Irene will be serving as the Regulatory Pharmaceutical Fellow with an emphasis on Medication Safety at Purdue University, Butler University, AbbVie Inc., and the FDA between 2020-2022.

Morgan Nicolas

I am the Regulatory Pharmaceutical fellow for Purdue and Butler Universities, Eli Lilly & Co., and the FDA with a concentration in Medication Safety. I graduated with a PharmD from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in 2020. During pharmacy school, I worked at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as a Medication Safety intern working on several projects to make the health system a safer place. I enjoy trying new restaurants, watching sports and Marvel movies. I am excited to be a part of this fellowship and continue my journey in the field of Medication Safety.

Charlotte Moureaud

Charlotte Moureaud, PharmD, graduated from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University in 2019. She is currently completing a two-year Medication Safety Fellowship that is comprised of three components: academic (Butler University and Purdue University), industry (AbbVie), and regulatory (FDA). She is currently working with Dr. John B. Hertig, Vice-Chair and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Butler University. During this time, she will work on several research projects and will also have the opportunity to help coordinate the Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Management Course. Charlotte’s career and research interests are mainly focused on medication safety and pharmacovigilance. After completing this fellowship, Charlotte hopes to either pursue more post-graduate training or start her career in industry.

Jonell Nwabueze, PharmD, Regulatory Pharmaceutical Fellowships- Medication Safety

Jonell Nwabueze

Jonell Nwabueze received her PharmD from Manchester University, after her completing pre-requisite courses at Howard University in Washington D.C. She is currently completing a two year medication safety fellowship in partnership with Purdue University, Butler University, Eli Lilly, and the FDA.  Her interests are currently in project management but has hopes of having a career covering multiple sectors throughout the industry. In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, baking desserts, and spending time with her family and friends.
