The Center for Urban Ecology and Sustainability (CUES) aims to establish collaborative interdisciplinary programs committed to excellence in urban ecology research and learning by engaging with Butler faculty from all disciplines. By reaching beyond the natural sciences to create synergies with other disciplines such as the social sciences, education, the arts, and business, the CUES strives to create a comprehensive lens with which to study the city as an ecosystem to solve key problems and inform the development of sustainable cities. Likewise, the CUES always welcomes faculty collaborations in education and community outreach to inspire Butler students and the Indianapolis community in stewardship and advocacy of our urban environment.
Butler faculty members are encouraged to reach out to the CUES if they are interested in, or already are, pursuing research related to urban ecology and sustainability. Similarly, Butler faculty interested in, or already teaching urban ecology or sustainability concepts in their courses are encouraged to seek out the many support resources available in the CUES.
