Spring Orientation Schedule
See below for the outline of the 2026 Spring Orientation schedule. A detailed schedule with exact times and locations will be sent to incoming students December 2025.
The Office of New Student & Family Programs welcomes you to Spring Orientation!
Join us on Thursday, January 8 from 7:00–9:00 PM ET for a virtual meeting on Zoom where you’ll meet other new students and learn more about Orientation, which runs from Thursday, January 8 through Sunday, January 11. The first day of classes is Monday, January 12.
A schedule of events is listed below. Please note: all times are in Eastern Time.

7:00–9:00 PM Join other new and transfer students for this required Zoom session.
8:00 AM–12:00 PM, 1:00 PM–4:30 PM Office of Parking Services open
4702 Sunset Ave. (Parking Garage, Suite 500)
Students should plan to visit the Office of Parking Services to acquire ID cards.
9:00 AM–12:00 PM Student check-in and move-in.
Residential students can pick up their housing key at Atherton Union 316 during this time.
All new students can check-in with Orientation staff at the Atherton Union 3rd floor common area, picking up goodies and asking questions about the weekend.
12:00 PM–1:00 PM Lunch
Students and families are welcome to enjoy lunch either on-campus or off.
If you wish to eat on campus, A-Town Cafe is open from 11:00 AM—7:30 PM where students will be able to utilize meal plans via their ID cards. If looking for a close option, Chatham Tap is a restaurant & pub located on campus, 4702 Sunset Ave. (Parking Garage).
1:15 PM–3:15 PM Succeeding at Butler, Orientation Kick-Off

In this session, Butler students and families will be able to hear from and interact with a number of campus offices. This event is required for all incoming students. Families are also welcome to attend.
3:30 PM–4:45 PM

This session provides Butler families a chance to engage a Butler student support services on campus.
5:15 PM–9:30 PM Dinner and Indianapolis social event

All incoming students are welcome to join us for dinner and an off campus excursion.

9:30 AM–10:20 AM Healthy Campus & Exploring Campus Resources

This session will explore elements of healthy relationships and provide an overview of Title IX processes. Required for all incoming students.
10:30 AM–11:20 AM Identity + Me Session

This engaging session will build skills of self-reflection, communication, trust, and appreciation for diversity. Required for all incoming students.
11:30 AM–12:30 AM Lunch

A catered lunch will be provided for students.
12:30 PM–3:00 PM Campus Tour
Start at Dugan Hall lobby
Join your Spring Orientation Guides for a tour of campus, noting your class locations and other good to know spots.
3:00–4:30 PM Student Orientation Meeting

Meet with your Spring Orientation Guides. Required for all incoming students.
5:30–6:30 PM Dinner
A-Town Cafe
Join other incoming students and Orientation leaders for dinner.
6:30-9:30 PM Social event in Indianapolis
Off campus
Join other incoming students and Orientation leaders for an off-campus excursion (we’re thinking escape rooms). We’ll meet at the south entrance of Atherton Union, inside near the stone bulldog.
11:00 AM–1:00 PM Brunch in Broad Ripple
Meet inside Atherton Union right inside the doors adjacent to the stone bulldog
Join your Orientation leaders and staff for brunch out in nearby Broad Ripple.
1:00 PM–3:00 PM Shopping outing in Indianapolis

Want to get involved? A number of key student clubs and organizations will be ready to meet new and returning students to get them plugged in with the latest.
