Orientation Online Modules

Prior to a student’s orientation period, all incoming students are required to complete the Orientation modules outlined below.

New Student Orientation Course

The Orientation online course will prepare you for life as a Bulldog. Within this course you will be introduced to academic and student life resources, learn about what to expect when living or commuting to campus, and explore how to make the most of your Butler experience. The course is asynchronous and students can complete it at their own pace. The New Student Orientation Course will become live on Tuesday, July 25 on Canvas. The deadline to complete the course is August 18, 2023.

Questions about the Orientation course should be directed to the Office of New Student & Family Programs.

“AlcoholEdu” Course

The “AlcoholEdu” online module provides education, awareness training, alcohol & drug abuse prevention, and harm-reduction strategies for the Butler community. The module is delivered in two parts: Part 1 takes ~1.5-2 hours to complete with the bulk of the education and resources; Part 2 (which will open later this Fall) will take ~5-10 minutes as a final check-in. The program is accessible on mobile and desktop/laptop devices. If you have already completed the AlcoholEdu curriculum at a previous institution, you are still encouraged to complete the module for Butler-specific information. However, you may be exempt with a valid certificate of AlcoholEdu completion from your previous institution. The deadline to complete the course is August 19, 2023.

Questions about the “AlcoholEdu” program should be directed to Katie Wood, Assistant Director for Health Promotion & Wellness.

“U Got This!” Course

“U Got This” is a part of our comprehensive approach to sexual and relationship misconduct response and prevention.

“U Got This!” is delivered through three 15–20 minute online training modules to speak up, step in, and create a better campus for all. These short, dynamic training modules will encourage students to incorporate intervention values into their day-to-day lives while also learning valuable lessons in how to build a respectful environment on campus. (This program is accessible on desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.)  The deadline to complete the course is September 2, 2023.

We understand that our students come to campus with a wide variety of experiences, and that the content found in “U Got This!” could be triggering, particularly for those who have experienced interpersonal violence.  If you are concerned about the content, please reach out to Jules Grable via email or at 317-940-2047. Jules can provide you with resources and help make alternative arrangements for the course.  Jules is also the point of contact for any other questions you may have about the course.
