Butler Theatre Student Organizations
Alpha Psi Omega (ΑΨΩ) is a National Theatre Honor Society for participants in collegiate theatre. With over 600 casts (groups), Alpha Psi Omega is one of the largest national honor societies in the United States. Butler University’s Omicron Epsilon cast lives out the national motto to “Seek a life useful” by fostering companionship and celebration of the arts among its members and the greater Butler Department of Theatre. On campus, Alpha Psi Omega conducts philanthropic fundraisers, hosts opening night production parties, creatively promotes the activities of Butler Theatre, and sponsors student-led theatre initiatives, along with many other fun-filled events! Membership is open to undergraduate students active in all areas of theatrical production.
Sandbox Student Productions is a student-led initiative with a mission of producing evocative theatre to illuminate, facilitate discussions, and fundraise for crucial social justice issues.
We believe in the fundamental skills and learning opportunities that come from students creating unique art, with opportunities to act, design, direct, administer, and write.
Our vision is to create a world filled with equality, understanding, and respect of all individual’s fundamental rights, with theatre playing a vital role in the facilitation of progress. Our company promotes student empowerment by assisting students to produce work for which they have a passion. We want to create stronger, well-prepared artists, who are capable of advocating and communicating through theatre. We believe in the power theatre has to produce empathy in audience members, actors, and creators.
