As a Butler Theatre student, you can expect to have access to state-of-the-art spaces, including our Butler Arts & Events Center. Whether it’s performing spaces, classrooms, scene shops, or costume shops, you’ll have the spaces and the expertise to do your very best work.

Schrott Center

Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts

The Schrott Center for the Arts is a 450-seat proscenium theatre. Butler Theatre produces here each Fall semester.

Clowes Memorial Hall is a 2,200-seat theatre that hosts Broadway touring productions. Butler Theatre produces here every third year.

Black Box Theatre

Lab Theatre 328 is a fantastic black box space that houses experimental work and student-produced work in addition to performance and lighting courses.

Lilly Hall 68 is a craft room, which we share with the Department of Dance. We use this space for dying fabrics and creating costume pieces and masks.

Costume Storage Space

Costume Storage Facility

The costume storage facility opened in 2016. The space is meticulously laid out so that students experience a professional-level storage facility for costumes, shoes, handbags, and accessories from a wide variety of eras and cultures.

Scene Shop

Scene Shop

The scene shop opened in fall 2016 and provides students the opportunity to work on set-building skills with a variety of power tools, saws, and welding equipment. The natural light also assists with the painting process.
