Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Music Education
A pathway to licensure for those with completed coursework in music
Butler’s post-baccalaureate Music Educator Certificate is the only stand-alone music teacher licensure program approved by the Indiana Department of Education. Students may choose either a residential track or, for those teaching full-time and/or learning from a distance, an online track. Both tracks include an in-person summer session and will lead to music licensure in Indiana with the possibility of reciprocity in other states.
The program curriculum requires completed course work in music that is the equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree. For those teaching with a Emergency Permit, your current classroom work can serve as your lab experience.
