Health and Recreation Complex

COVID-19 Update

The Butler University Department of Student Health and Recreation is working closely with University officials to monitor the rapidly changing situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).  In order to protect our community the recreation, fitness and aquatics facilities will be closed until further notice, including all programs and services.

We are actively looking for ways to engage our community virtually at this time. Tune in to the other Butler HRC Instagram handles and the BUBeWell Instagram page for online fitness, wellness, and recreation resources and tips while you are in isolation.

Health Services will not be scheduling any elective procedures and well-visits based upon CDC recommendations. If you are sick, experiencing respiratory symptoms, and would like to be seen, call 317-940-9385 and press option 4 to speak with a triage nurse. You will need to be screened and triaged before an appointment can be scheduled. HS is available by phone at 317-940-9385 during the hours of 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. After business hours, call the Indiana State Department of Health Epidemiology Resource Center at 317-233-7125. Counseling & Consultation Services has suspended all in-person services as a means to limit any social contacts. They can consult by phone in the case of an emergency but do not currently have the capabilities to conduct on-going tele/video therapy. CCS recognizes that this is a very difficult time, and are currently available to assist you in establishing services in your hometown. The CCS office is currently available for contact by phone at 317-940-9385 during the hours of 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, but this may change as the campus situation develops.

In the case of an emergency, CCS would like to remind you of some of the local and national 24-hour crisis options available. These include St. Vincent Stress Center (317-338-4800), Community Health (317-621-5700), and the national suicide hotline (800-273-8255). These and other resources can also be found on the Counseling & Consultation Services website.

The Health and Recreation Complex (HRC) offers many programs and services to Butler students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as the Indianapolis community. Not only is it the main stomping ground for the Department of Recreation and Wellness, the HRC also houses the offices of Counseling and Consultation ServicesHealth Services, and Sexual Assault Response and Prevention, making it a true wellness center on campus.
