Our department is proud to host and partner with the Center for Global Education on study abroad programs, including recent experiences such as:

  • Roman Perspectives Among the Ruins
  • Butler University Rome Centre
  • Butler in Asia – Tokyo, Singapore & Beijing internship opportunities

Many students also participate in an exchange or 3rd Party Provider partners coordinated by our Center for Global Education Office. Recent student destinations include:

  • College Year in Athens
  • University of Tubingen (Germany)
  • Amsterdam Social Sciences & Humanities Program
  • University of Nottingham

Study Abroad Funding

For semester-long Butler programs, your university financial package applies. The University and College also provide opportunities for funding for outside programs. Our department is proud to sponsor these scholarship funds as well:

Student Experience

One of our History & Anthropology majors, Elijah Smith, Class of 2026, spoke about participating in the Roman Perspectives Among the Ruins program in 2023:

Student Experience

Classics and Anthropology Major/History Minor, Aidan Gregg, Class of 2025, studied for a semester in Athens with College Year in Athens and participated in an internship where he worked with and studied recently excavated human bones.
