Applying to Butler

Whether you’re a new student or transferring from another university, it’s easy to start your application to Butler. We accept both the Butler Application and the Common Application. Our Admission Committee uses our holistic review process to assess each applicant individually. Academics are important, and we take your GPA and test scores into account, but we also welcome creativity and look for students who have demonstrated leadership potential.

If Butler is one of your top choices, you should apply Early Action. The Early Action application deadline is November 1, with decisions mailed in mid-December. The Regular Decision application deadline is February 1, with decisions mailed in mid-February.

From high school schedule strength to test scores to co-curricular activities, our Admission Committee takes multiple criteria into account when evaluating applicants for admission. 



How To Apply

Freshmen Applicants

In addition to the Application for Freshmen Admission and Scholarships, requirements include a writing sample, a résumé outlining activities and honors, official test scores, high school transcript, and a Secondary School Report.  

Graduate Applicants

Butler offers 18 master's degree programs in five colleges and the Doctor of Pharmacy from our College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Our graduate programs, in the colleges of business, education, fine arts, liberal arts and sciences, and pharmacy and health sciences, provide the highest quality of liberal and professional education. 

Transfer Applicants

In addition to the Transfer Application for Admisison and Scholarships, requirements include a writing sample, official transcript from each college or university attended, final official high school transcript, and official test scores. Additional requirements vary by program. 

International Applicants

The application process for international students is very similar to the freshmen applicant process, with a few differences. International applicants must submit proof of English Proficiency and Butler's Application for Form I-20.
