Developing Partnerships

At Butler University, we strive to create meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships that center community voice and student learning. We therefore ask all our community members to follow these suggested principles and guidelines for creation of sustained, community partnerships

Principles of Partnership Development

  • We believe our partnerships will be relationship-focused and mutually beneficial collaborations, that focus on respect, honesty, and recognizing and valuing meaningful service experiences, dynamic educational opportunities for both organizations.
  • We believe in transparency and accountability and will discuss and document expectations and explanations to provide clear communication for all parties in the partnership.
  • We will work with community partners to solicit and provide partnership outcomes and feedback so we can assess successes and determine areas of improvement

Guidelines for Partnerships

  • Listen to community and lead with community voice
  • Communicate objectives, goals and outcomes clearly with all parties
  • Align partnership with your goals, passions and interests
  • Ask about all requirements and capacities
  • Notify ICR office about your plans for community engagement before you begin your course
