Mission and Accreditation

Butler is currently in the process of seeking Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accreditation for a respiratory care program. However, Butler can provide no assurance that accreditation will be granted by the CoARC.

Program Mission and Goals

Butler’s professional Respiratory Therapy curriculum develops providers that have received an education grounded in the liberal arts and who will exemplify the ethical and professional standards expected of all healthcare professionals. The program promotes achievement of the defined competencies of the profession and provides a foundation of sufficient scope and depth to prepare students to achieve success as respiratory therapists.

The Bachelor of Science Respiratory Therapy program’s goals are:

  • To prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists.
  • To prepare leaders for the field of respiratory care by including curricular content with objectives related to the acquisition of skills in management, research, and advanced clinical practice.

Program Statistics

CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an “outcomes-based” process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented.

Program data will be reported here once available after the program begins.
