Internships
Each business student completes two internships for academic credit. These internships give you valuable work experience and an advantage over the competition. While many business schools don’t even require one internship, you’ll graduate with experience and networking connections.
The Andre B. Lacy School of Business has a network of internship companies that expands every year, and a majority of our graduates attribute their first post-grad position to one of their internships.
- Internships must be at least 240 hours
- All internships must be approved by the Lacy School of Business
- You must have 60 credit hours to complete an internship for credit, including at least 12 Lacy School credits at the 300-level or above.
- You must have completed the first 300-level course in your major.
- To receive credit you must complete LSB 401 or LSB 402, a three-credit-hour course
- Grades are determined by class assignments and professionalism, which is partly based on employer evaluations
Resources
Assessments such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality assessment, Focus 2, Strong Interest Inventory, StrengthFinders, and others help you learn more about yourself and offer insight in choosing a major or career path. Contact your career mentor for more information.
- Handshake: Handshake is Butler’s career management tool that connects students and alumni with employers through online job and internship postings, on-campus interviews, career events, and more. Students can access career resources, connect with their mentor, and apply for positions.
- O*NET: Explore different occupations and find out detailed information including the job outlook, typical work tasks, required skills and abilities, education required, and typical wages.
- Occupational Outlook Handbook: Find useful information about positions of interest including the training and education needed, earnings, expected job prospects, typical work tasks, and working conditions.
- Mergent Intellect: Mergent Intellect provides access to private and public U.S and international business data, industry news, facts and figures, executive contact information, the ability to access industry profiles and much more.

Dawgs to Dawgs is a group of volunteer LSB seniors who share their knowledge, experience, and ideas with their peers. They advise underclassmen on personal and professional topics such as internships, job applications and interviews, study abroad, and time management. Students are directed to contact their Career Mentor directly to find their Dawgs to Dawgs mentor or reach out to Zoe Havens at zhavens@butler.edu to connect with another current mentor who has similar interests or aspirant experiences. Meetings can be scheduled to take place virtually or face-to-face. Peer Mentors listed below:
