Additional Computer Lab Information

Butler University Information Technology recently launched LabFind, an app developed to help Students find technology resources on campus.

LabFind is a smartphone app that requires download and login using Butler email account. Once logged in, you can search for computer labs, or software needed for courses and it will tell you where to find that software or computer lab.

All residence hall computer labs are maintained by IT and are available 24 hours for hall residents. Both Windows and Mac computers are available. Paper and toner for these lab printers are available from each hall’s front desk.

  • Fairview House – located on first floor lobby and fourth floor
  • ResCo – located in the lobby
  • University Terrace – located in the common room
  • Apartment Village – located on the first floor of building F (Dawg House)
  • Irvington House – located in the lobby

IT has three laptop carts (two Windows PC carts, one Mac cart) and one iPad cart that may be reserved by faculty for occasional use in non-computer lab classrooms. To reserve a laptop cart, please  go to ask.butler.edu, log in, and then click on the button that says Borrow a Cart/Media Equipment. Requests are honored on a first come first served basis. PLEASE ALLOW A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS (EXCLUDING WEEKENDS) NOTICE FOR ALL REQUESTS! Requests submitted less than 48 hours in advance may not be fulfilled.

The Fairbanks Center 110 computer classroom is primarily used for classes in the College of Communication.

FC 110 has 20 Apple iMac computers.

Sunday – Saturday: 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM

Computer labs are normally open between scheduled classes. Open hours are restricted during breaks. Routine maintenance is generally conducted on Fridays. Faculty and staff may contact Registration and Records at x9204 to reserve the lab.

The Fairbanks Center 248 computer classroom is primarily used for classes in the College of Communication.

FC 248 has 24 Apple iMac computers.

Computer labs are normally open between scheduled classes. Faculty and staff may contact Registration and Records at x9204 to reserve the lab.

Jordan Hall 220 and 348 are primarily used for instruction, but are available for student use when not scheduled for class. These rooms are equipped with projectors, annotative displays, white boards, Windows laptop computers with widescreen displays,  a document camera, dual monitor instructors station, controlled lighting and the ability for the instructor to project student computers on the screens.

These are teaching labs and are used regularly. They are available between classes and require a Butler ID card to enter.

Jordan Hall 174 computer classroom is primarily used for classes in the Computer Science and Engineering departments.

Open hours are restricted during the academic year. Faculty and staff may contact Registration and Records at x9204 to reserve the lab.

Irwin Library has 10 Windows computers and five Macs  on the first floor in the Information Commons, as well as four Windows computers in the basement. Black and white printers and a scanner, fax, and copier are available in the first floor tech quad. Color printing is available at the Irwin Circulation Desk.

The Science Library has a computer lab and black and white printers.
