Ryan Clark is a health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) professional with nearly 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Currently, he is on sabbatical in Spain exploring topics such as applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in biotechnology and global healthcare policy. His most recent professional role was as Senior Director, HEOR Gastroenterology Lead at AbbVie, where for 6+ years he led a team managing patient-centered outcomes, real-world evidence, and economic modeling. Prior to joining AbbVie, he completed a market access fellowship and spent 7+ years in an HEOR-focused role largely supporting global market access at Cencora (formerly Xcenda), a life sciences consulting firm. Ryan earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from Butler University in 2011, and also graduated with a Master of Science (MS) degree in Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Florida in 2013.
Tony Deahl is a 33-year veteran of the global biopharmaceutical industry, having held a broad range of commercial leadership roles across US and International business areas. Tony’s most recent role was Vice President, Licensing & Acquisition for Abbott’s global pharmaceutical division. He currently serves on the Independent Review Committee for The Clara Abbott Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides financial and scholarship assistance to Abbott employees, retirees, and dependents in need. Tony holds a BS in Pharmacy from Butler (’84) and an MBA from Northwestern/Kellogg (’86). Tony also holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management
Bridget A. McGrath, MPAS; PA-C; SFHM graduated in 2014 from Butler University Physician Assistant Program. She started her career as a Meds/Peds Hospitalist PA at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana. She transitioned to University of Chicago in 2017 and serves as the Section of Hospital Medicine Advanced Practice Provider Manager and Interprofessional Education co-lead. She holds affiliate faculty status for Butler University Physician Assistant Program. She has served as the University of Chicago hospital level Advanced Practice Provider Executive Council Chair. Within her administrative role, she oversees the clinical performance, staffing, and career mentorship of the APP Hospitalist team. She aligns care delivery with section and hospital priorities by identifying and implementing clinical operations, quality improvement, and medical education initiatives. Ms. McGrath’s academic focus is on assessment and development of professional development opportunities that promote bidirectional mentorship among APPs and Physicians. She has a passion for medical education, specifically to provide preceptorship to private PA programs. She has served as a PA preceptor to over 50 PA students from multiple local PA programs, inclusive of Butler University. In 2020, in concert with Butler PA faculty she co-developed a novel virtual PA rotation to serve the needs of Butler PA students impacted by COVID-19 visiting student restrictions. This was researched and published as an abstract entitled a “Student in my Pocket: Development of a Virtual Internal Medicine Hospital Rotation During the COVID-19 Pandemic” in Academic Medicine. She remains an active member of the Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Deans Advisory Council, with a goal to impact the future of education of Butler University students.
Sarah Koch, RN, BSN, MS, is an accomplished healthcare executive and registered nurse with more than a decade of leadership experience in public health, currently serving as Assistant Administrator of Clinical Operations for the Global Health and TB Control Program at the Marion County Public Health Department.
Sarah is passionate about developing innovative healthcare strategies that improve access, health outcomes, and organizational performance. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, servant leadership, continuous learning, and empowering teams to achieve meaningful and sustainable impact. She brings a unique perspective that bridges nursing practice, healthcare administration, and community health to improve the well-being of the populations she serves and the community in which she lives.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, reading, and traveling.
Beth McCarty, PharmD, MSc, BSPharm, RPh, is a pharmacist, managed care executive, and community health leader with more than 30 years of experience across the full spectrum of pharmacy practice, health plan management, and nonprofit leadership. She is the founder and President of Comprehensive Pharmacy and Medical Consulting, LLC, a practice she has led since 1995.
Beth’s academic foundation reflects a deep and purposeful commitment to the pharmacy profession. She began her training at Butler University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, where she earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy followed by a Master of Science in Pharmacology. She subsequently earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University, completing an academic journey that has informed every stage of her professional career.
Her managed care career includes senior executive roles at some of the nation’s leading health plans. Most recently, she served as Associate Vice President of Pharmacy for the Indiana Market at CareSource, where she spent nearly nine years driving pharmacy strategy, clinical program development, and market-level operations. Prior to CareSource, she served as Head of Commercial and Exchange Pharmacy Clinical and Product Strategies at Aetna, Staff Vice President of Pharmacy for the Medicaid Sector at Anthem, Vice President of Medicaid Pharmacy at Coventry Health Care, and Regional Vice President of Local Group and UniCare Integrated Medical/Pharmacy Business at Anthem. These roles reflect a distinguished career at the intersection of pharmacy, managed care, and health policy.
Equally committed to community and nonprofit leadership, Beth currently serves as Board President of the Indiana Immunization Coalition, where she has been a member since 2019 and plays an active role in advancing vaccination rates across the state. She also serves on the board of the Damien Center, Indianapolis’s leading HIV/AIDS service organization, and was recently appointed to the State of Indiana Drug Utilization Board. For more than 15 years, Beth has served as Vice President of the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting patients and families affected by rare digestive diseases.
Beth also volunteers her expertise as a pharmacy consultant for Seeds of Change, a newly established free clinic serving under resourced residents on the west side of Indianapolis. In this role, she is leading efforts to establish a Vaccines for Children/317 program for the clinic and conducting a comprehensive evaluation of pharmacy services as a potential future clinic offering work that directly reflects her passion for expanding healthcare access to those who need it most.
Beth is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and remains deeply engaged in initiatives that improve access to care, strengthen public health infrastructure, and advance health equity across the communities she serves.
Derek McMichael, PharmD, MBA, FACHE, is President of Community Health Network’s Northwest Region and leads hospital operations and strategy for Community’s service areas in much of Hamilton, Tipton, Howard, Boone and Hendricks counties, including the Community Westfield Hospital campus and Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo.
Derek previously served as Vice President of Operations for the Community Hospital North campus. He joined Community Health Network in 2017 as Pharmacy Director at Community Hospital North.
Before joining Community, Derek spent 17 years with IU Health, including a decade in pharmacy enterprise leadership roles.
Derek earned both his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration degrees from Butler University. He is board‑certified as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Marlo Scott is a health outcomes advocate with more than 20 years of experience translating innovation into commercial impact. She advises biotechnology, animal health, plant science, and health technology startups on business development, commercial strategy, and investor readiness.
Previously, Marlo held marketing and communications leadership roles at Eli Lilly, contributing to the successful launch of five FDA-approved medicines and supporting go-to-market strategy across neuroscience, cardiometabolic health, immunology, and infectious disease. She founded and led Sweet Revenge, an award-winning New York City restaurant, wine bar, and lifestyle brand, for a decade. Earlier in her career, she held M&A and business development roles with NBC, Time Inc., and Investools.
Marlo is a graduate of Butler University and earned her MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. She is passionate about fostering innovation, advancing health outcomes, and helping entrepreneurs translate scientific discovery into meaningful impact.
Kimberly L. Sterling, Pharm.D., M.S.
Dr. Kimberly L. Sterling is Vice President of Health Research at Resmed, where she leads the development of scientific, clinical and real-world evidence on sleep and breathing health technology. She leads a team of professionals with expertise in clinical research, health economics, real-world evidence, behavioral science, data science and advanced analytics. A pharmacist and health economist by training, she brings over two decades of experience in medical devices and pharma, with a deep focus on health economics, health equity and women’s health. Kimberly is a sought-after thought leader and active community advocate, championing health equity, inclusion, and belonging both in research and across her industry and local communities.
Prior to joining ResMed in 2019, Kimberly held a variety of positions at Eli Lilly & Company and Sanofi, focused on health economics & outcomes research (HEOR) strategy & implementation, scientific communication to payers and engagement with health technology assessment organizations. She has more than 25 years of HEOR experience within the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries. Kimberly received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University then went on to receive her Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy at the University of Southern California. In addition to her current sleep and breathing health research at Resmed, she has published HEOR studies for multiple other diseases including bipolar disorder, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and autoimmune diseases in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of several professional societies in the field of sleep medicine. Most recently, Kimberly served as Co-Chair of the Medical Device Industry Consortium’s Patient Access & Evidence subgroup.
In additional to her professional pursuits, Kimberly enjoys serving her community through her active participation as chair of the Butler University College of Health Professions Dean’s Advisory Council, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., board member of the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, Executive Sponsor of the Black Excellence at ResMed employee resource group, co-leader of the Solid Word Bible Church Women’s Ministry, and praise team member at Solid Word Bible Church. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, writing, swimming, reading, attending cultural events and hosting intimate gatherings. Lastly, but most importantly, Kimberly is loving daughter, sister, friend and aunt to 2 amazing nephews and 1 fearless niece!
Robert L. Ternik, Ph.D. R.Ph. – Rolara Medaka Consulting LLC
Dr. Ternik is Principal and Owner of Rolara Medaka Consulting, LLC. Bob retired from Eli Lilly and Company in 2023 after more than 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry. At the time of his retirement, Bob was responsible for creating and implementing patient centered design and drug delivery capability across Lilly’s synthetic molecule drug product portfolio. Dr. Ternik earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Butler University, and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Iowa. Bob has extensive experience in formulation development and manufacturing process scale up and tech transfer. He has led and overseen the development of more than 50 pivotal clinical and commercial formulations. He has experience and expertise in oral, parenteral and alternative dosage form development, with a primary focus on oral products
Dr. Ternik was highly engaged in the International Consortium for Innovation and Quality in Pharmaceutical Development (IQ). He is a past chair of the Drug Product Leadership Group and is a co-founder and chair of the IQ’s Pediatric Working Group. Bob was a founding member of the Lilly Pediatric Steering Committee and is actively engaged in both US and European based pediatric product development consortia. Dr. Ternik was honored to be one of 3 pharmaceutical industry representatives on the Federal Task Force on Research Specific to Pregnant Women and Lactating Women (PRGLAC) through the Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Ternik is the creator and presenter for the Drug Formulation and Delivery Module of the NIH’s Principles of Clinical Pharmacology course. He has published on product development for special patient populations, such as pediatrics and geriatrics. He is an active advocate for, and leader in, advancing global capability in product design, with focus on addressing unmet patient needs through human-centered design.
Kathy Zoppi is the Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Community Health Network. She earned her B.A. at the University of Illinois, then went on to earn her MPH and Ph. D. from the University of Michigan. She is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at Indiana University and an Adjunct Professor at Marian University. She is a Board Member and founding member for the Indiana Health Advocacy Coalition (IHAC).
