The First 55 is Butler University’s way of helping students make the most of the start of the school year. Whether you’re new to campus or coming back for another year, it’s all about getting involved, meeting people and building connection, showing your Bulldog pride, and creating memories that will last long after graduation.

During the first 55 days of the semester, we challenge every Bulldog to step outside their comfort zone and experience what Butler has to offer. Kick off the school year and feel the energy of Hinkle Magic! See the campus come alive during Weeks of Welcome events, celebrate Butler traditions during Homecoming, and discover your community by joining a student organization. Cheer on the Bulldogs at free student athletic events and welcome your family back to campus for Family Weekend to share everything you’ve experienced and accomplished.

From August 24 through October 17, 2026, take advantage of the programs, events, and traditions that make Butler unique. Explore new opportunities, build lasting connections, and become part of a community whose spirit has been growing strong since 1855.
