Building Accessibility Information
Below are written narratives of accessibility features, broken down by individual building. Similar information can be found in a visual format by selecting the “Accessibility” tag on the Butler campus map.
Some buildings may require a Butler ID keycard to access during certain times of day. To use push buttons for doors that require a keycard, swipe the keycard first to unlock the door and then push the ADA door opener button.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking, with permit or plate, is located on the west side of Atherton between Atherton and Irvington House.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut located on the southwest end of Atherton.
Accessible Entrance
There are two accessible entrances to Atherton. One located on the south side of the building and one at the north side of the building by Starbucks.
Elevator
There are two accessible elevators in Atherton. One is located on the south end of the building and one is located on the north end of the building in the Butler Bookstore.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 004M and 004N. Accessible gender inclusive restrooms are located on the 3rd floor in room number 304B and 318.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with permit or plate, located west of the Butler University Police Department building.
Curb Cuts
There is a curb cut on the west side of the Butler University Police Department building from the parking lot leading to the police dispatch window.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with permit or plate, located east of The Compass Center building.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut on the east side of The Compass Center building directly in front of the ramp leading to the accessible entrance.
Accessible Entrance
There is an accessible entrance on the east side of The Compass Center building. The door opener button is located on the railing on the left side of the door.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking, with tag or plate, is located at the northeast corner of Clowes Hall, as well as the south side of the building, across Butler Way.
Curb Cuts
There are four curb cuts for access to Lilly Hall. One is located on the northeast corner of the building next to a parking area. One is located at the south end of the building by the main entrance. One is located southeast of the building by the sidewalk next to Schrott Center off Butler Way. One is located southwest of the building by the sidewalk next to Lilly Hall off Butler Way.
Accessible Entrance
There are two accessible entrances to Clowes Hall, both at the main entrance on the south side of the building. One is located on the west side of the main door. The door opener button is located on a stand to the left of the entrance. The other is located on the east side of the main door. The door opener button is located on a stand to the right of the entrance.
Elevator
There are two accessible elevators in Clowes Hall. Both are inside the main entrance, one to the right and one to the left.
Accessible Restrooms
An accessible restroom is located on the lower level in room number B6. An accessible gender inclusive restroom is located on the 1st floor in room number 131. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the 1st floor in room number 136 and on the 2nd floor in room number 203.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with permit or plate, located northwest of Dugan Hall on Butler Way.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut located northwest of Dugan Hall directly in front of the sidewalk.
Accessible Entrance
There are five accessible entrances to Dugan Hall. Two are located on the north side of the building, one is located on the west side of the building, and one is located on the south side of the building. There is another entrance at the southwest end of Dugan Hall connecting this building with the Irwin Library. This is a no barrier entrance. The fire doors are open when Irwin Library is open.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in Dugan Hall, located on the southwest side of the building.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible men’s restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 027, on the 1st floor in room number 126, on the 2nd floor in room number 226, on the 3rd floor in room number 342 and on the 4th floor in room number 442. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 028, on the 1st floor in room number 129, on the 2nd floor in room number 229, on the 3rd floor in room number 345 and on the 4th floor in room number 445. Accessible gender inclusive restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 019, on the 1st floor in room number 127, on the 2nd floor in room number 227, on the 3rd floor in room number 343 and on the 4th floor in room number 443.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with permit or plate, located south of the Efroymson Center for Creative Writing building in the BUPD parking lot.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut on the southeast end of the Efroymson Center for Creative Writing building directly in front of the sidewalk.
Accessible Entrance
There is an accessible entrance on the east side of the Efroymson Center for Creative Writing building. The door opener button is located on the wall to the left of the door.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is located southeast of Fairbanks between Fairbanks and Jordan Hall.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut located on the south side of Fairbanks directly in front of the sidewalk leading to the entrance of the building.
Accessible Entrances
There are two accessible entrances to Fairbanks. One located on the south side of the building and one at the northeast side of the building.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in Fairbanks. It is located in the middle of the building closest to the south entrance.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible men’s restrooms are located on the first floor in room number 132 and on the 2nd floor in room number 232. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the 1st floor in room number 134 and on the 2nd floor in room number 234.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with permit or plate, located south of Fairview House, between ResCo and Fairview House.
Curb Cuts
There is a curb cut located on the south side of Fairview House by the accessible parking area.
Accessible Entrance
There are four accessible entrances to Fairview House. One is located on the east side of the building and one on the west side of the building. The other two are located on the north side of the building leading into the Fairview Community Room.
Elevator
There are accessible elevators in Fairview House located between the east and west entrances.
Accessible Restrooms
An accessible women’s restroom is located on the first floor in room number 139. Accessible gender inclusive restrooms are located on the 1st floor in room number 156 and by room number 139.
Accessible Parking
There are accessible parking spaces, with permit or plate, located south of Gallahue Hall between Fairbanks and Jordan Hall.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut, south of Gallahue Hall by the accessible parking area between Fairbanks and Jordan Hall.
Accessible Entrance
There are two accessible entrances to Gallahue Hall. The main accessible entrance is on the east side of the building. The other accessible entrance is located on the southwest corner of the building.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in Gallahue Hall. It is located through the main entrance, to the back of the building on the right.
Accessible Restrooms
An accessible men’s restroom is located on the lower level in room number 076. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the lower in room number 078 and on the 1st floor in room number 182.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with tag or plate, located south of Hinkle Fieldhouse in the main parking lot.
Curb Cuts
There are three curb cuts located on the south side of Hinkle Fieldhouse. One is located by Gate 1, one is located by Gates 2 and 3, and one is located by Gate 4.
Accessible Entrance
There are two accessible entrances to Hinkle Fieldhouse. One is located on the southwest side of the building by Gate 1, and one on the southeast side of the building by Gate 4.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in Hinkle Fieldhouse. It is located through Gate 1 down the hall and to the left.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible men’s restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 0164, and on the 1st floor in rooms 1161 and 1214. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 0130B, and on the 1st floor in room 1215. Accessible family restrooms are located on the first floor in room 1462, and on the 4th floor in room numbers 4332 and 4411.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with tag or plate, located northeast of the Holcomb Building, between this building and the Pharmacy Building.
Curb Cuts
There is a curb cut located on the north side of the Holcomb Building on the east end of the building directly in front of the sidewalk.
Accessible Entrance
There is an accessible entrance on the west end of the Holcomb Building on the south side of the building. This entrance is shared with Levinson Family Hall.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in the Holcomb Building. It is located through the main entrance, straight down the hallway on the left.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible men’s restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 079, and on the 2nd floor in room 279. Accessible women’s restroom are located on the lower level in room number 080, and on the 2nd floor in room number 280.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with tag or plate, located northeast of the HRC in the Hinkle Fieldhouse parking lot.
Curb Cuts
There are two curb cuts located by the HRC. One is located on the southeast side of the building and one on the northeast side of the building by the Hinkle Fieldhouse parking lot.
Accessible Entrance
There are two accessible entrances to the HRC. One is located on the southeast side of the building, and one on the northeast side of the building.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in the HRC. It is located in the middle of the building just past the check-in desk on the left.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible men’s restroom are located on the lower level in room numbers 065A and 070B. An accessible women’s restroom is located on the lower level in room number 060A.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking, with tag or plate, is located southeast of the building by Lilly Hall or southwest of the building by Robertson Hall.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut on the south side of the Holcomb Observatory at the bottom of the sidewalk on the southwest side of the building.
Accessible Entrance
An accessible entrance to the Holcomb Observatory is located on the south side of the building. The door opener button is located on the wall to the left of the entrance.
Elevator
There is a lift in the planetarium to provide wheelchair access to that area. Access to the telescope requires three separate sets of steps totaling 66, and there is no elevator. To request disability-related accommodations, please visit butler.edu/event-accommodations.

There are two curb cuts located on the east side of Irvington House by the accessible parking area. There is another curb cut located on the north end of the building from the accessible parking area.
Accessible Entrance
There are three accessible entrances to Irvington House. One is located on the east side of the building, one on the south side of the building and one on the north side of the building.
Elevator
There are accessible elevators in Irvington House located between the north and south entrances.
Accessible Restrooms
An accessible gender inclusive restroom is located on the 1st floor in room number 159.
Accessible Entrance
There is an accessible entrance on the west side of the Irwin Library. The door opener button is located on a railing leading from the ramp on left side of the entrance.
Elevator
There is one elevator in the Irwin Library, which is located inside the main entrance to the left.
Accessible Restrooms
An accessible gender inclusive restroom is located on the lower level in room number 002.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is located north of Jordan Hall, between the Pharmacy Building and Jordan Hall.
Curb Cuts
Two curb cuts are located on the northeast corner of Jordan Hall. One is directly in front of the sidewalk and the other close to the accessible entrance. There is another curb cut located at the southwest side of the building leading to the entrance of the building.
Accessible Entrance
There are three accessible entrances to Jordan Hall. One is located on the northeast side of the building, one at the northwest side of the building and one at the Southeast side of the building.
Elevator
There are two accessible elevators in Jordan Hall. One is located in the middle of the building and the other is by the accessible entrance on the northwest side of the building.
Accessible Restroom
Accessible men’s restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 021, on the 2nd floor in room number 211, and on the 3rd floor in room number 311. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the lower level in room number 023, on the 1st floor in room number 149, on the 2nd floor in room number 223, and on the 3rd floor in room number 323.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking, with tag or plate, located northeast of Levinson Family Hall, between the Holcomb Building and the Pharmacy Building.
Curb Cuts
There is one curb cut located northeast of Levinson Family Hall, between the Holcomb Building and the Pharmacy Building.
Accessible Entrance
There is one accessible entrance on the south side of Levinson Family Hall, shared with the Holcomb Building.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in Levinson Family Hall. It is located through the main entrance to the left past the study spaces. There is also an accessible elevator located in the connecting Holcomb Building through the main entrance straight to the back of the building.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible gender inclusive restrooms are located on the lower level in room numbers 012 and 017, on the 1st floor in room number 117, on the 2nd floor in room number 217, and on the 3rd floor in room number 317.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking, with tag or plate, is located at the northwest, southwest and southeast corners of Lilly Hall.
Curb Cuts
There are 3 curb cuts by Lilly Hall. One is located at the northwest end of the building, one at the southwest end of the building leading to the accessible entrance, and one at the southeast end of the building leading to an accessible entrance.
Accessible Entrance
There are two accessible entrances to Lilly Hall. One is located on the southwest side of the building and the other on the southeast side of the building.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in Lilly Hall. It is located closest to the southeast entrance to the building.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible gender inclusive restrooms are located on the lower level in room numbers 033 and 035, on the 1st floor in room numbers 122, 126 and 160, and on the 2nd floor in room number 222.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking on the 1st floor of the Parking Garage.
Curb Cuts
There are 4 curb cuts around the Parking Garage. One is located on the south end of the building by the exit, one is located on the southeast corner of the building, one on east side of the building and one on the northeast corner of the building.
Elevator
There are two accessible elevators in the Parking Garage. One is located on the southwest side of the building, and one is located on the east side towards the middle of the building.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is located south of the Pharmacy Building, between the Pharmacy Building and Jordan Hall. There is also accessible parking on the west side of the building.
Curb Cuts
There are seven curb cuts located around the Pharmacy Building. There is one located on the south end of the building by the accessible entrance, one on the southeast side of the building, one on the northeast side of the building, one is on the north end of the building by the ramp leading to the accessible entrance, one is on the northwest side of the building, one is on the west side of the building by the accessible parking spaces, and one on the west side of the building close to the Holcomb building.
Accessible Entrance
There are three accessible entrances to the Pharmacy Building. One is located on the south side of the building, one on the northeast corner of the building and one on the west side of the building.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in the Pharmacy Building. It is located in the middle of the building closest to the accessible entrance on the west side of the building.
Accessible Restrooms
An accessible men’s restroom is located on the 3rd floor in room number 340. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the 1st floor in room number 112 and on the 3rd floor in room number 308A. Accessible gender inclusive restrooms are located on the lower level in room numbers 040 and 044, and on the 2nd floor in room number 210.
Accessible Parking
There is accessible parking located south of ResCo on Hampton Avenue, in front of the building. There is also accessible parking, with a permit for students and employees only, located on the northeast side of the building between Fairview House and ResCo. Accessible parking is also available in the BUPD parking lot located southeast of ResCo.
Curb Cuts
Two curb cuts are located on the south side of ResCo, both leading from the accessible parking spaces in front of the main doors to the building. There is another curb cut located at the southeast corner of the building coming from the accessible parking area in front of BUPD. There is another curb cut located on the northeast corner of the building leading from the accessible parking spaces between Fairview House and ResCo.
Accessible Entrance
There are five accessible entrances to ResCo. One is located on the northwest side of the building, and one located on the south side of the building. The other 3 are located on the west side of the building. The first two are only accessible to students living in Resco, but through the courtyard is another entrance to the building.
Elevator
There are four accessible elevators in ResCo leading in each quadrant of the building. A is located in the northwest corner of the building, B is located in the southwest corner of the building, C is located in the southeast corner of the building, and D is located in the northwest corner of the building.

Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is located south of Robertson Hall, between Robertson Hall and the Pharmacy building.
Curb Cuts
One curb cut is located at the southeast corner of Robertson Hall leading to the main entrance.
Accessible Entrance
There are two accessible entrances to Robertson Hall. One is located on the east side of the building, and the other is on the northeast side of the building leading into the Edison-Duckwall Recital Hall.
Elevator
There are two accessible elevators in Robertson Hall. One is located inside the main entrance on the left. The other is located in the Edison-Duckwall Recital Hall on the left.

Curb Cuts
There are two curb cuts for access to the Schrott Center. One is located on the southwest corner of the building in front of the main entrance. The other is on the west side of the Schrott Center between this building and Clowes Hall.
Accessible Entrance
There is one accessible entrance to the Schrott Center, located on the south end of the building on the west side. The door opener button is located on the wall to the left of the entrance.
Elevator
There is one accessible elevator in the Schrott Center, located to the left when entering the building.

Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is located east of the South Campus building off Haughey Avenue. A second accessible parking lot is located on the south side of the building between the east and west sides of the building. A third accessible parking lot is located on the south side of the building off 42nd Street.
Curb Cuts
Two curb cuts are located at the South Campus building. One is located on the northeast side of the building in front of the accessible door. There is another curb cut located at the southwest parking lot leading to the sidewalk routing towards the accessible entrance.
Accessible Entrance
There are three accessible entrances to the South Campus building. One is located on the northeast corner of the building, one on the northwest side of the building and one on the south side of the building by the central parking lot.
Elevator
There are two accessible elevators in the South Campus building. One is located at the northeast corner of the building and the other is by the accessible entrance on the northwest side of the building.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible men’s restrooms are located on the 1st floor in room numbers 110 and 169B. Accessible women’s restrooms are located on the 1st floor in room numbers 111B, 169A and 193. An accessible gender inclusive restroom is located on the 1st floor in room numbers 160C.
