Pillar 1: Continuous Orientation and Onboarding
Built for New Beginnings and Long-Term Success.
Assisting new faculty in making a successful transition to Butler is one of the CFE’s primary commitments. Pillar 1 organizes orientation materials, administrative touch points, and university resources into a continuous support system for new and experienced faculty. Through the Signature New Faculty Enrichment Series, exposure to Butler’s Teaching and Learning Philosophy, and centralized access to up-to-date campus resources and information, we connect and equip faculty to thrive.
Fundamentals of Effective University Teaching Series
Designed as a foundational professional development track for new and early-career faculty, this series provides essential pedagogical training across the academic year. Each 90-minute workshop consists of 60 minutes of interactive, evidence-based instruction followed by 30 minutes of guided application, syllabus/assignment development, and 1-on-1 coaching.
Registration & Canvas: Email facultyexcellence@butler.edu to register for the series and gain access to the dedicated Canvas module hub (containing session materials, recordings, and course design templates). While attending the full series is preferred and encouraged for continuous onboarding, faculty are welcome to drop in for individual topics.
Date, Time, & Location: Monthly sessions held throughout the academic year in Atherton Union 326 / Jordan Hall 238 (refer to the master schedule for specific dates and times).
