Assisting new faculty in making a successful transition to Butler is one of the CFE’s primary commitments. Beyond initial onboarding, Pillar 1 organizes professional development, administrative touch points, and university resources into a continuous support system for faculty at every career stage, from incoming colleagues to long-standing faculty committed to lifelong learning. Through the Signature New Faculty Enrichment Series, engagement with Butler’s Teaching and Learning Philosophy, and centralized access to up-to-date campus resources and information, we connect and equip faculty to thrive throughout their careers.

New Faculty Orientation

New Faculty Orientation serves as Butler University’s foundational onboarding designed to align incoming faculty with the university’s academic mission, strategic goals, and institutional resources. Faculty participate in interactive workshops, panel discussions, and conversations with university leadership across two days in August, gaining critical insights into instructional technologies, administrative workflows, and university infrastructure. Beyond technical preparation, New Faculty Orientation fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and establishes a strong professional network to support long-term faculty success and community engagement.

New Faculty Enrichment Series

The New Faculty Enrichment Series offers a continuous cohort-based experience through engaging monthly lunch-and-learn sessions held throughout the academic year. These interactive gatherings provide faculty with deeper dives into institutional operations and campus resources essential for navigating university life, fostering sustained professional growth and ongoing peer connection long after your initial onboarding.

Fall 2026 New Faculty Enrichment Series Schedule:
All sessions will take place in Atherton Union, Room 326, with dedicated time for lunch from noon-12:30 (meal vouchers provided), and discussion from 12:30-1:30.
