William Gulley is the Executive Director of Butler University’s Executive Education—the organizational learning and professional development arm at Butler University. In this role, William develops key relationships and alliances with industry leaders. William also teaches New Product Development in Butler’s Lacy School of Business MBA Program.
Prior to joining Butler, William held executive and strategic leadership positions for over 25 years in engineering, finance, and operations with companies such as Navistar, Ford Motor Company, and Brightpoint (now Ingram Micro). He was also the co-founder in a private equity backed start-up, leader of operations and finance for a high-growth, bio-hazardous waste start-up, and was a senior executive of a medical device company. William has raised over $20 million investment capital in equity and debt to fuel the growth of companies as well as conducted the negotiations, due diligence, and post-transaction integration efforts for acquisitions and divestitures across multiple industries.
William received an MBA in Finance from the Eli Broad School of Management at Michigan State University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, and an Executive Education Leadership Certificate from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Craig Caldwell works with organizations to develop strategic direction, link implementation steps to strategy, identify organizational culture, and develop processes to bring about organizational change. Since 2007, Craig has served as an Associate Professor of Management in the Lacy School of Business at Butler University. He is currently the Associate Dean of Graduate and Professional Programs. He teaches MBA and undergraduate courses in Strategy, Leadership, and Organizational Change. Craig has won six teaching awards and two advising awards. He is the Chair of Graduate Council and his past roles include the Faculty Annual Evaluation Committee and Department Chair for Marketing and Management.
Craig’s consulting and executive education activities focus on strategy development, leadership, and organizational change. He has worked with client firms in logistics, manufacturing, food service, life-sciences, and architecture. In addition to strategy development, Craig’s leadership works include human capital strategy, employee engagement, and building high-performance teams. Craig’s research includes academic articles in Business and Society, Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies, The Monitor, Business and Society Review, Management Accounting Quarterly, and Journal of Corporate Citizenship.
Craig holds a doctorate from University of Pittsburgh, an MBA from Virginia Tech, and a bachelor’s degree from Anderson University.
Steven D. Dolvin, CFA, is a Professor of Finance at Butler University. He teaches primarily in the area of investments, but also oversees student-run portfolios in both public and private equity. Steve has received multiple teaching awards, has published numerous articles in both academic and practitioner outlets, and is the Ratliff Endowed Chair in Finance. He is also the co-author of Fundamentals of Investments (McGraw-Hill). Steve’s prior experience includes work in both corporate finance and investments, and he currently provides investment consulting for both individuals and businesses.
Tom Faulconer is a 1985 graduate of Butler University and a 1988 graduate of the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis.
He began his career at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance as Advanced Sales Counsel, was promoted to Manager of Agent Training, Director of Agent Development, and was named Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in 2010. Among other notable achievements during Tom’s tenure as SVP and CMO was the creation of the “Stop Knocking on Wood” branding campaign as well as securing the rights to the classic television commercials Farm Bureau ran during Indiana University and Purdue University basketball games featuring the singing janitor (IU) and the tuba player (PU).
While at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, in addition to continuing his legal work and education, Tom earned several professional designations including the Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Advisor for Senior Living, and the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. He also earned Series 6, 7, 63 and 26 securities registrations, served as the Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction in Indiana for EquiTrust Marketing Services (Broker-dealer), and introduced variable products to the company’s field force.
He is also the author of several training courses marketed through Lessonly nationwide and a contributing author for StartUS, on online magazine based in Europe aimed at the startup community there.
Tom is the author of In The Eyes of the Law, a book chronicling one of Indiana’s most famous murder trials involving the killing of Eli Lilly executive Forrest Teel in the late 1950s, a trial presided over by his late father, Judge Thomas J. Faulconer, III. His second book, Surviving and Thriving in the Job Search was released in October of 2018.
Tom is currently a member of the Risk Management and Insurance faculty at Butler University and has served as a Personal Financial Counselor for active military personnel through Zeiders Enterprises, a large military contractor. He is also the owner of Transitions Financial LLC, a financial planning and advisory company primarily helping those who are in job transition, divorce, or moving into retirement.
Kathy has served as the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at Butler University, managing all aspects of the MBA and MPA programs including admission, advising, and curriculum development. She has championed the Lacy School’s experiential learning “Real Life, Real Business” initiatives at the graduate level, including the Gateway Experience, the Integrated Capstone Experience, the Board Fellows Program, and the international study trips. She currently continues to teach in the MBA core, using a case-based approach which emphasizes strategic thinking.
Kathy has published articles on a variety of topics, such as workplace incentives, product innovation, and key performance indicators. Her cross-disciplinary research has allowed her to work with academics from accounting, operations management, and organizational behavior. Her work has appeared in outlets such as Managerial and Decision Economics, Management Science, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Journal of Labor Economics, and Management Accounting Quarterly.
Kathy’s academic credentials include a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Emory University and both a master’s and doctoral degree in Economics from Purdue University. She has over 20 years of teaching experience in both the undergraduate and graduate levels, serving on the faculty at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and Butler University.
Tammy Pressler began her career with Ernst & Young in Audit Services as a CPA. After several years, she decided to pursue a different path and joined a boutique recruiting and staffing firm, specializing in accounting and finance. After several years in this field, she left the workforce to become a stay-at-home mom. For the next several years, Tammy pursued accounting opportunities as project work, eventually returning to the workforce as a part- time accountant for a non-profit and subsequently, a family owned manufacturing company. Her next venture returned her to another boutique staffing firm, specializing in contract and contract-to-hire accounting positions. Discovering her passion was helping employees, she returned to Human Resources in a full-time capacity as an HR Generalist with Marian University. After four years with Marian University, she transitioned to Butler University as a Human Resources Consultant and is now the Manager of Organizational Effectiveness for Butler Human Resources. She manages HR Consultants, consults with all academic areas of Butler University, and is a Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Butler
Hessam Sarooghi is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Lacy School of Business. He has earned his PhD in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Missouri Kansas City (2016). Hessam’s primary research interest is focused on studying the experiential approaches in identifying and developing entrepreneurial opportunities informed by the nuances of design thinking. His research has been published in top entrepreneurship and management journal including Academy of Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, and Small Business Economics. While at Butler, Hessam has taught the First Year Business Experience, Real Business Experience, and Creativity and Innovation in the undergraduate program.
