Lifelong Learning Collaborative Call for Proposals

“Lifelong teachers need lifelong learners! There is nothing I enjoy more than teaching interested and interesting students.”—Shelle Etnier, Associate Professor—Biological Sciences

Do you have an interest in working with adult learners and supporting their passion for learning? Do you have an area of expertise that you would like to share? If so, the Butler Lifelong Learning Collaborative invites faculty, staff, and administrators to submit a proposal for an experience for adult learners (post undergraduates to senior citizens). Ideas could include an engaging book club, a one-day experience or guided “field trip” around Indianapolis, a mini-course, or a Zoom experience. There are no grades, tests, or office hours for these experiences.

Experiences will fall under three general categories:

Mini-Course: a mini-course experience that meets four times (one hour each) during the semester with similar structure to a college course (this could include a specific skill, hobby, honing your craft, or short instruction). Meetings could be once or twice a week.

One Time Offering: a one hour lecture/activity or discussion around a specific topic. It can be through Zoom or in-person.

Field Trip or Behind-the-Scenes: A 90 minute interactive experience associated with a place (a Butler farm tour, an Herbarium tour, Behind-the-Scenes at Hinkle or Clowes)

Travel: a domestic or international trip
