We know that in order to do your best, you must feel your best. We also know many of our members keep a busy schedule. When life gets hectic, sometimes wellness is the first to fall by the wayside. To make it easier for you to find what you need to be your best, we’ve organized the most sought-after information and resources by category below.
Membership Extras & Resources
Guest Pass Cost: $10.00 Per Day
Guest Passes entitle non-members access to the facility through a sponsorship by a current RecWell member. The member must be present and accompany their guest in all spaces within the facility. Guest passes can be purchased at the Membership Services Desk.
All guests must be 16 years or older and are required to show a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license. Guests 16 and under are allowed only during Family Hours and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
Non-participant entry into RecWell spaces for things such as tours and events does not require the purchase of a guest pass. However, some form of ID may be necessary.
Day Pass Cost:
$3.00 Per Day (Part-Time Students, Faculty, & Staff)
$10.00 Per Day (Alumni & Affiliates)
Day Passes are for non-members who are Butler part-time/grad students, Butler employees, alumni, and approved affiliates. Proof is required. Self-sponsored day passes are $3.00 for part-time students/employees and graduate students and are $10.00 for alumni and affiliates and can be purchased at the Membership Services Desk.

Locker Pricing:
Full — $30.00 — Semester (Sold at the full price at the start of the semester and prorated each day after)
Full — $90.00 — Annual
Half — $15.00 — Semester (Sold at the full price at the start of the semester and prorated each day after)
Half — $45.00 — Annual
Locker Purchases:
Locker purchases can be made at the Membership Services Desk at the HRC. Once purchased, lockers can be renewed online on our sales portal.
Refund Policy:
Refunds will be given in select instances and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact hrc@butler.edu or (317) 940-6073.
The men’s and women’s locker rooms are located on the ground level of the HRC and each have restroom facilities, showers, and more than 200 lockers. Two gender-neutral restrooms are located in the pool corridor and contain restroom facilities and a shower.
Lockers are available for rent at a minimal cost. Day locks for locker room usage are available for check out at the Membership Services Desk. Day Lockers are available to use on the main fitness floor.
RecWell has much to offer, including:
- Two-court gymnasium that can accommodate basketball, volleyball, and pickleball
- Six lane – 25 yard – lap-swimming pool
- Leisure pool for water basketball, volleyball, bubble benches, or lazy river
- Spa
- Sauna
- Men’s, women’s, and gender neutral locker rooms
- Two multipurpose studios – The Zone & the GX Studio
- Free-weight room – The Kennel
- Cardio and selectorized weight machine area that includes Precor, Matrix, Cybex pieces, and much more!
- 1/10 mile jogging track
- Student lounge (aka “Living Room”) with study areas, large TV, pool table, and table tennis
Any registered student, faculty member, staff member, or member of an affiliated group with office space on campus:
- Must register their vehicle and obtain a current parking permit to park anywhere on campus or any authorized city street.
- Is prohibited from parking on the streets within the Butler Tarkington Neighborhood.
All other RecWell members should use visitor parking in the nearby parking garage.

RecWell strongly recommends that individuals not bring valuable items to our facilities and programs when working out. All items left behind will be held at the Membership Services Desk for two weeks. However, valuable items, such as wallets and rings, will be immediately turned over to the Butler University Police Department.
