International Course and Test Credit
International Course Credit
Butler considers course credit completed at colleges and universities outside of the U.S. International course credit may be considered with Butler’s general education Core Curriculum, within major degree requirements, or as elective degree requirements.
International course credit is awarded only upon submission of an official transcript sent directly from the college or university to the Office of Admission.
International students may choose to begin by submitting their international transcript to a transcript evaluation service such as WES. The cost of this evaluation is the responsibility of the student.

International Test Credit
Butler also considers test credit earned outside of the U.S., including International Baccalaureate (IB) credit and AS-/A-Level credit.
Butler University offers academic credit in most subject areas covered by International Baccalaureate (IB), including for students who have completed the full IB Diploma Programme.
Students earning IB scores of 5 -7 may request to have these credits applied to:
- One or more Areas of Inquiry (Natural World, Social World, Perspectives in the Creative Arts, Analytical Reasoning, Texts & Ideas) in the general education Core Curriculum.
- Major degree requirements (at the discretion of the department).
- Elective degree requirements.

IB transcripts must be sent directly to the Office of Admission from the International Baccalaureate Organization. Information on requesting IB results can be found here.
Butler considers course and/or elective credit for AS- and A-Level exam results on a case-by-case basis. Credit is awarded only upon submission of an official AS or A Level Exam Certificate to the Office of Admission.
