What This Agreement Covers
This transfer agreement ensures a smooth transition from Ivy Tech’s Liberal Arts program into Butler’s Literature track. After transferring, students take upper-level seminars, literature surveys, genre studies, theory and criticism, and a required capstone.
Students typically complete the remaining degree requirements in two years after transfer.
What’s Fulfilled Through Your Ivy Tech Degree
According to the agreement, Ivy Tech coursework fulfills many Butler Core and English foundation requirements, including:
- Foreign Language requirement (14 credits, including two courses at the 200 level or above)
- English/literature coursework (a range of 6–15 credits, depending on what you completed)
- Electives (typically 5–14 credits)
What Courses Will I Take at Butler?
You’ll complete the remaining English Literature coursework at Butler (mostly upper-division), plus any remaining Butler requirements identified during transfer evaluation.
Licensure Requirements
This is a non-licensure program. No state teaching exams, CPR certification, or student teaching are required.
