College of DuPage Transfer Pathway – Theatre

Bachelor of Arts in Theatre

Students who complete an Associate in Fine Arts – Theatre Performance or related degree at the College of DuPage may transfer credit hours toward Butler’s Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in the Jordan College of the Arts.


What This Agreement Covers

This pathway supports students transitioning from performance and technical theatre training at the College of DuPage into Butler’s broad-based Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program. Applicants must complete an audition or portfolio review as part of the admission process.

What’s Fulfilled

  • First-Year Seminar and core general education areas
  • Foundational theatre courses such as Acting I & II, Theatre History, and Stage Craft
  • Approved humanities, social science, and natural science electives
  • Up to 60 transfer credits toward degree completion

What Courses Will I Take at Butler?

After transfer, students complete roughly 60 credits in upper-division theatre courses such as:

  • Script Analysis
  • Directing I & II
  • Theatre History II
  • Acting III or Movement for Actors
  • Stage Management or Design Seminar
  • Theatre Capstone Project
