Homecoming 2019 includes the Centennial Celebration for the Athletic Bands. Alumni from the Athletic Bands program are encouraged to participate in activities throughout the weekend. Network with fellow EDDP graduates and current students as the program celebrates its 20th anniversary and learn more about the exciting changes coming with the Sciences Expansion & Renovation Project. Alumni registration includes dinner, dessert, and beverages, and helps subsidize the current student price. Plus, all proceeds go to the Engineer Club for events and activities throughout the year.

$30 alumni; $10 students; $10 children (3-12). Registration required.

J.I. Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium Show with Telescope Viewing A blue paw print icon, indicating a family friendly event.
Holcomb Observatory
Come see the Holcomb Observatory's newly-renovated telescope and planetarium. The telescope had a $425,000 refurbishment to greatly improve its optics, operation, and research abilities. The planetarium underwent a complete $200,000 overhaul and is now a fully digital, immersive fulldome theater. These upgrades have greatly enhanced the visitor experience. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children and students under 18. No reservations required. Doors open at 7:00 PM with the planetarium show at 7:30 PM and a telescope viewing (weather permitting) at 8:30 PM.

Join the fun at Butler's Biggest Tailgate! Bring food, drinks, friends, and come and go as you please to this exciting atmosphere. Tailgating space is limited and reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, as the Hinkle lot typically sells out for Homecoming. Bulldog Boulevard tailgating is from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, and the lot will close promptly at 4:00 PM. Please see Athletics’ complete tailgating policy.

Two tailgating packages are available for purchase:

  • Bulldog Boulevard Package: Fans can choose to be part of Bulldog Boulevard, a section of tents where fans can set-up their tailgate. A Bulldog Boulevard tailgate pass is $150 and includes tented tailgating space, reserved parking in or near the Sunset Avenue Parking Garage, one eight-foot table, sign identifying your tent, and 4 general admission football tickets. Fans provide food, drinks, friends, and a great tailgating atmosphere. We are looking for true blue Butler fans who can bring energy and excitement to this game day tailgating experience.
  • General Tailgate Package: This package includes a parking space for your vehicle in the Hinkle Fieldhouse East parking lot, and 4 general admission football tickets ($135; price includes parking pass, 4 tickets, and shipping costs).

Health and Recration Complex (HRC) 

Bring the entire family to enjoy Family Fun Fest. Activities for all ages, including face painting, balloon animals, and more! New this year, families will be able to access activities throughout the entire HRC, including the pool and basketball courts. Activities include: open swim, water basketball/volleyball, cornhole, and more. Parents will need to complete a liability waiver for the HRC facilities and should plan to accompany their children in the facility.   (Free)

This exhibition game pairs the Bulldogs against the IU-Kokomo Cougars with Associate Head Coach Roosevelt Jones ’16. NEW LOCATION: Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts
One of the most versatile bands in contemporary American music, the Steep Canyon Rangers have spent nearly two decades bending and shaping the bluegrass aesthetic, wedding it to elements of pop, country, and folk rock to create something truly original. The Grammy Award-winning sextet bring their unique sound to Butler for this special Homecoming weekend show. Tickets available here.

In this one of a kind concert experience, young fans will be dancing in the aisles as Baby Shark and friends go on fun adventures to learn and meet new friends! Complimentary parking is available for registered members of the Class of 1969 on Friday, October 25 in the Sunset Avenue Garage. Members of the Class of 1969 will need to pick up their parking vouchers, maps, and nametags in the Fairview House Community Room at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and 46th Street.

Prior to the Alumni Recognition Ceremony and Reception, relax and visit with classmates. Visit the campus bookstore or explore campus on your own. Staff will be onsite to watch personal items, so come and go as you please. Light refreshments will be served.

3:30 PM: Walking Tour for the Class of 1969

Members of the Class of 1969 and their guests will depart from Fairview House for a 45-minute walking tour of campus. Tour guides are responsible for the whole group and will not be able to assist individuals with special needs.

Butler Bands Centennial

Butler Bands has several events planned throughout the 2019–2020 school year to celebrate its 100th Birthday. Homecoming Weekend will be Athletic Bands Weekend and feature programming specifially for those connected to those groups. Homecoming Coloring Contest

The Butler University Bookstore encourages all bulldogs to participate in the annual Homecoming coloring contest. Little kids, big kids, and kids at heart are encouraged to participate in-person or via mail. Judging will take place after 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, and winners will be notified the following week.

To participate, stop by the Butler University Bookstore in the Atherton Union to pick up a coloring sheet or print your entry here. Not on campus or can't make it back for Homecoming? No problem. Entries can be returned to the Butler University Bookstore via mail prior to Homecoming. Winners will be selected at the sole discretion of the judges using criteria including, but not limited to appearance, technique, artistic vision, cleanliness and spirit. Stop by the bookstore between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM on Homecoming Saturday to see the entries on display throughout the store.
