Exploratory Studies

Finding the area of study that’s best for you is often a journey in itself. Through Exploratory Studies, you can try out many of your interests and develop new skills before fully immersing yourself in a major.

The Exploratory Studies program is full of ways to help you discover the many possibilities you have at Butler. You’ll learn about our 65+ majors by observing classes and using faculty as your guide. You’ll take assessments to discover your strengths, values, and interests. You will even participate in job shadows and interviews to explore where your degree could take you after college. And this program is not just for new students, but also for students who are currently in a major, but are considering changing or adding a second major or a minor.

Exploratory Studies is a community of students and advisors who will help you unlock your passions, believe in yourself, and build confidence in the path you choose.

It is much easier to make confident academic and career-related decisions when you know who you are and what is important to you.

Exploratory Studies Course

Exploratory Studies Course

I am so happy that I took the LC103 course, it gave me reassurance that it was ok to be undecided and it opened my eyes to the all majors that Butler offers. I don't think I would have been able to confidently declare my major as I did without the test results, job shadows, and support that I received from the class. I would strongly recommend it to undecided freshmen.
