Butler University's Old National Bank Center for Business Excellence has built a new platform called BlueWork that connects students and employers for short-term, project-based work opportunities (micro-internships) without the need for employers to hire and supervise an intern or full-time employee. Students will create profiles in the system, and companies will also create profiles and specific project requests. BlueWork will then use a matching algorithm to suggest students based on their skills, attributes, and interests for projects. Depending on the specific request the employer will select a Student Contractor(s) for the project or be assigned a Student Analyst(s) to complete the work. BlueWork is currently in its testing phase and will be launching a pilot for Student Anyalysts in May 2021 and a pilot for Student Contractors in August 2021. During these pilots, BlueWork will only be available to Lacy School of Business students, with hopes to launch University wide in January 2022.
