Community

Butler University is at the nexus of arts and culture in Indianapolis. As such, our mission is to serve the creative interests of our students as well as our community. In addition to performances and events, Butler has two extraordinary programs by which we fulfill this mission.

Butler Community Arts School

Since 2002, the Butler Community Arts School has offered performing arts instruction to anyone ages 5 and up, including adults. Located on the Butler University campus, instructors are trained Butler students known as "Teaching Fellows." At Butler Community Arts School, the mission is to provide quality arts instruction at an affordable price while also developing community involvement and civic-mindedness in Butler University students.

Arts Collaboratives

Through Arts Collaboratives, Butler University Jordan College of the Arts has ongoing partnerships with six local arts organizations, five of which are housed on campus in Lilly Hall, offering extraordinary opportunities for students to interact with professionals working in the arts.
