Philosophy: Recommended Three-Year Path

Notes:

• Many of our PL majors joined our program in their sophomore or even junior year at Butler. Unlike some more technical majors or minors, ours does not require students to take courses spread over 4 years, and, while we prefer certain lower level courses to be taken relatively early on, and others to be taken later, there is substantial flexibility in the order in which a student could attend the courses offered by our program.
• In this example, the student would take 6 credit hours per semester in PL (with the exception of the last semester) for a total of 33 credit hours. The student could take an additional 12 credit hours every fall and spring semester (12 credits X 6 semesters = 72 cr) in order to take care of core requirements etc. plus another 15 credit hours during two or three summers, for a total of 120 hours, the minimum required for graduation at Butler.
