  • The major in Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) consists of 36 hours of courses, including 6 hours of internship. PACS majors must take PO 102 Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies or SW 240-PO Gender and Generations, PO 220 Community Mediation, One theory or methods class in a relevant discipline such as PO 201, PO 322 International Conflict and Peace Building, One 400-level class or Thesis such as PO 490, 15 hours of PACS electives, and 6 credit hours of internship.”
  • Students who plan to graduate in three years would need to take between 17 and 19 credit hours each of the 6 fall/spring semesters they are enroll ed and to earn 15 credit hours during the two summers between their first and third years in order to reach the minimum of 120 credits required for graduation. Six of these credit hours should be earned through a summer internship during their second summer.
  • The following plan is designed for a student who enters with no AP or transfer credits and needs to start a foreign language at the introductory level. The number of summer credits or regular semester credits could be reduced if the student brings in credits at the time of matriculation (AP, IB, Dual Deg., etc.).
  • *The department has had challenges regularly offering PO 220.
