Political Science: Recommended Three-Year Path

Notes:

  • A Political Science major consists of 33 semester hours of which 20 hours are at the upper division level (above 299). Majors must take PO201, plus three of the other introductory courses (100- or 200-level) and at least one upper-division seminar (PO490).
  • Students who plan to graduate in three years would need to take between 16 and 18 credit hours each of the 6 fall/spring semesters they are enrolled and to earn 16 credit hours during the two summers between their first and third years in order to reach the minimum of 120 credits required for graduation.
  • The following plan is designed for a student who enters with no AP or transfer credits and needs to start a foreign language at the introductory level. The number of summer credits or regular semester credits could be reduced if the student brings in credits at the time of matriculation (AP, IB, Dual Deg., etc.).
