Stand Tall Project 10/27

What would you say to a sexual assault survivor? Join the Butler University Volunteer Center on Monday October 27th to support survivors, raise awareness, and end victim-blaming by participating in the Stand Tall Project. We will be set up right outside of the Volunteer Center (AU100) from 10AM to 6PM. Stop by and show your support! The Volunteer Center will also be passing out candy for Halloween all week (October 27th-31) so stop in and learn more about what we do.

Why I Stayed 10/28 at 6:00 p.m. PB 150

Former Butler student, Hannah, who survived sexual assault and four years in a violent marriage, invites faculty, staff, and students to hear her story. After leaving the marriage, she vowed not to remain silent about her story-the story of so many other women. For the past two years, she has been outspoken in the community about the issues of sexual assault and domestic violence, giving a voice to those who haven't yet found their own voice. Join us to hear Hannah's story and talk with representatives from Butler's Counseling and Consultation Services and Victim Advocate Program as well as representatives from local agencies providing free services to survivors and their loved ones. This program is sponsored by the Office of Health Education and Outreach Programs, Counseling and Consultation Services, and REACH.

Indianapolis Monumental Marathon Expo 10/31

Be a part of the anticipation and excitement before the big race! Athletes pick up their event information and race bib numbers so they are ready for race day. Duties include passing out race packets and t-shirts to participants, providing race information and assisting in directing people as they visit Indianapolis. This project is on October 31st from 2:00-6:00PM. Sign up here.

Oxfam Hunger Banquet 11/14

This year, the Volunteer Center will be hosting our second annual Oxfam American Hunger Banquet. Nearly 870 million people suffer from chronic hunger in America and more than 2.5 billion people live in poverty. This event will randomly divide students into different "social classes": lower, middle, and upper class. Students will then be given a meal according to their respective class and engage in discussion about the effects of hunger and poverty in America, specifically in Indianapolis. The event will be held in the Johnson Room of Robertson Hall on Friday, November 14th from 5:00 PM- 6:30 PM. There is no charge for the event; however, we want to acknowledge that students will ONLY receive the meal designated to their respective social class. Space is limited for the first 100 students, so please RSVP today by filling out the following form. We hope to see you there!
