Academics

Earn your degree across six continents in three years.

Students who live and learn abroad report greater independence, intercultural competence, adaptability, and appreciation for diversity in all its forms. And with programs like Environmental Studies and International Business, a global perspective is not only an added benefit—it’s a crucial asset that will help you stand out from your peers in our connected yet competitive world.

As a Butler Overseas student, you’ll earn the same degree as students in Butler’s on-campus programs, delivered through a uniquely global learning model. During fall and spring semesters abroad, your coursework will combine online instruction from Butler faculty with in-person classes taught by trusted IFSA faculty at local IFSA centers. This place-based learning maximizes the cultural, historical, and environmental richness of each location. In the summers, you’ll return to Butler’s campus for in-person classes and immersive learning experiences throughout the city of Indianapolis.

When you major in one program, you’ll automatically take on the other as a minor, so you’ll gain a well-rounded, interdisciplinary perspective. Not sure which major is right for you? You can enter our exploratory program, and your academic advisor and  Career Development mentor will help you find the path that best fits your strengths and passions along the way.
