A Message from the Chair of Staff Assembly
The mission of the Butler University Staff Assembly is to
enhance the work environment and represent the interests and
concerns of staff in the overall governance structure of the
University. More information may be found on the Staff Assembly
website. Upcoming meeting and event announcements will be
posted on the website, Facebook page and Butler Connection.
Staff Assembly General Meetings
General meetings are open to all staff and are held once a month
on Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. Meeting locations subject to change

Notable 2011-2012 Staff Assembly Accomplishments:
- Staff Handbook:Collaborated with Human Resources to review
content and provide input for the forthcoming Staff
- Technology:Utilized Panopto to record general meetings and
created a Facebook page to enhance interaction with staff.
- 8th Annual Campus Sweep:Despite weather, approximately 40
participants served in the campus service project to beautify
indoor and outdoor areas. Co-sponsored by the Office of the
- Relay for Life: Staff team was highest fundraising team
for the overall event with a record amount of $12,200 to benefit
the American Cancer Society. Dawg Walkers staff team had
highest staff participation this year. Honors: Staff team was top
Butler fundraising team fourth year in a row and most spirited
Butler team. Staff members Shelly Rabideau and Chris Davis were top
- Third Annual Butler Football Tailgate:Social event for staff,
faculty, friends and family. This year, 61 adults and 7 children
- Third Annual Men's Basketball Faculty & Staff Appreciation
Night:Record attendance was set with 126 individuals.
- Second Annual Night at the Observatory:Wine classes and
stargazing for faculty, staff, friends and family, with 76 in
attendance at the fall session.
- Angel Tree:Over 150 gifts were collected for Salvation
- Personal & Professional Development Sessions:The Basics of
Financial Planning, Budgeting and Investing, Staging Your Home for
Sale, Steals and Deals, Beer Making and more were among the
sessions offered last year.
As the incoming Chair, I'd like to thank you for your
