What is Science Olympiad?

Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female & minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers. Founded in 1983 by educators Dr. Gerard Putz and John Cairns, these goals are achieved by participating in Science Olympiad tournaments and non-competitive events, incorporating Science Olympiad into classroom curriculum and attending teacher training institutes.

Science Olympiad has members in all 50 states and has more than 14,000 actively participating K-12 schools. Butler University is proud to support Science Olympiad by hosting this annual regional competition.
