These pathways streamline the CPL process, making it easier and more efficient for students to apply their prior learning toward their academic goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your prior learning matches one of these pathways, we encourage you to connect with us. Students whose prior learning aligns with a standing pathway are encouraged to submit documentation for review. To initiate a credit request, contact the Program Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-asl-language-experience\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-larger-font-size\">ASL Language Experience<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students who demonstrate substantive prior experience with American Sign Language (ASL) through any of the following pathways may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning toward <em>SLHS 501 American Sign Language<\/em>:<br><strong>Eligible Experience: <\/strong>Prior ASL experience includes (1) undergraduate or graduate ASL coursework from an accredited institution; (2) current interpreter licensure or certification (e.g., NIC, RID, state-level licensure); (3) lived experience as a Deaf person who uses ASL; or (4) lived experience as a family member of a Deaf ASL user who uses ASL with native or near-native proficiency.<br><strong>Credit Awarded: <\/strong>1 Credit in <em>SLHS 501 American Sign Language<\/em><br><strong>Required Documentation: <\/strong>Submit one or more of the following to the Program Director: official transcript(s) reflecting ASL coursework from an accredited institution; current interpreter license or certification; or a written personal statement (1\u20132 pages) describing lived experience using ASL with native or near-native proficiency. The Program Director will review submitted materials and make a determination of credit eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-graduate-research-methods-out-of-window-transfer-credit\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-larger-font-size\">Graduate Research Methods (Out-of-Window Transfer Credit)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students who have completed a graduate-level Research Methods course at an accredited institution but whose coursework falls outside the program\u2019s standard transfer credit time window may petition for Credit for Prior Learning toward <em>ED 673 Research Methods<\/em>.<br><strong>Credit Awarded: <\/strong>3 Credits in <em>ED 673 Research Methods<\/em><br><strong>Required Documentation: <\/strong>Submit the course syllabus and, if available, representative samples of student work (e.g., research proposal, literature review, data analysis assignment) to the Program Director. The Program Director will evaluate submitted materials against the program\u2019s Research Methods course objectives. Credit will be granted upon the Program Director\u2019s written approval that course objectives have been demonstrably achieved.<br><strong>Note: <\/strong>This pathway applies specifically to coursework that meets content requirements but falls outside the transfer credit time window.
