Red Cup Culture

Red Cup Culture PresentationThe Red Cup Culture program is a creative approach to prevention that incorporates a video produced by and for Butler students followed by a peer facilitated discussion for all first-year students during the first week of the academic semester.

After participating in The Red Cup Culture program, first-year students will be more aware of the following:

  • The difference between perceived use and actual use of alcohol among college students.
  • Community expectations to be active bystanders in high-risk situations involving alcohol and other drugs.
  • Opportunities for substance-free fun at Butler and in Indianapolis.
  • Lower risk alcohol consumption strategies for those who choose to consume.

  • The signs of alcohol poisoning and immunity afforded to students through the Indiana Lifeline Law.

The 30 peer educators who facilitate the discussions following the video are members of the Red Cup Culture Team.  Selection of peer educators takes place each year in the Spring.  Training for facilitators occurs annually in August.
