Transfer Butler Gift Programs
UPDATE: Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Fall 2020 transfer priority application deadline has been extended to August 1. For admission and financial aid consideration, please submit your transfer application and have official college transcripts sent to the Butler University Office of Admission by August 1.
Butler University is the largest provider of financial aid to our students. Butler gift assistance is only available to full-time undergraduate students pursuing their first bachelor's degree and is for tuition only unless otherwise stated.
Transfer Award amounts listed below are from the 2020-2021 academic year and may vary for future academic years.
To Apply: Complete the Butler Transfer Application or the Common App.
Application Deadline: June 1 to receive maximum scholarship consideration (fall entry term). Complete fall applications received after June 1 will be considered for scholarship based on available funds. November 1 to receive maximum scholarship consideration (spring entry term). Completed spring applications received after November 1 will be considered for scholarship based on available funds.
Award Amounts: Range from $10,00 to $16,000 and vary each academic year based on the quality of the applicant pool.
Selection Criteria: Awards are based on the student's academic record.
Notification: Transfer scholarships are included with the offer of admission.
Renewable? Yes, as long as the student maintains the renewal criteria outlined in the scholarship offer.
Phi Theta Kappa members who qualify for a Transfer Scholarship may be eligible for an additional $1,500 increase to their scholarship.
To Apply: In addition to the Butler Transfer Application or Common App, students wishing to major in the Arts must complete a secondary Art + Design, Arts Administration, Dance, Musice or Theatre application. An audition, interview, or artwork submission are required.
Application Deadline: Students are encouraged to apply and audition early for best opportunity.
Award Amounts: Vary based on performance ability/interview/submitted work and departmental needs.
Selection Criteria: Determined by the department.
Notification: Award letters are sent from the auditioning department.
Audition awards are only available to students majoring within JCA - School of Music; Departments of Dance, Theatre and Arts Administration; and the Arts Program.
To Apply: Contact the Athletics Department.
Award Amounts: Vary based on performance ability and the needs of the team.
Selection Criteria: Determined by the coach.
Awards are made in 13 NCAA Division I athletic programs. Men's football and women's swimming are non-scholarship programs.
To Apply: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Application Deadline: Recommended FAFSA Filing Date is December 1; Butler's FAFSA Deadline is March 1.
Award Amounts: Vary based on academic strength and financial aid eligibility as determined by the FAFSA.
Notification: Awards are reflected in Butler's offer of financial aid sent on a rolling basis.
Renewable? Awards are not automatically renewed. Student must submit the FAFSA each year to receive consideration.
