First-Year Student Orientation

This meeting is mandatory for all incoming students, including first-years and transfers, new to pre-health. Topics covered consist of an introduction to your pre-health advisors, expectations for your time at Butler, and professional school admissions requirements.
Assistance with Professional School Entrance Exams

Junior Pre-Health students who are planning to take the MCAT, DAT, or OAT, can attend to receive assistance from pre-health advisors Dr. Philip Villani and Dr. Paul Morgan on their preparations for these demanding examinations.
Sophomore pre-health students are offered the opportunity to network with a variety of health professionals from Indianapolis and the surrounding communities during the fall semester. The evening is conducted in a speed-dating style where students meet with three sets of professionals for 20 minutes each. Dress code is business casual.
Personal Statement Information Session

Junior pre-medical students are invited to attend an information session with pre-health advisors regarding writing personal statements as a part of an application for medical school.
Personal Statement Workshop
The Personal Statement Workshop is for junior pre-medical students. Participation requires a complete draft of a personal statement for medical school admission. Students and adviors will cooperatively and confidentially provide constructive feedback on writing of personal statements.
Long-term Planning for First Year Students
This meeting will cover issues of long-term planning for application to professional schools in the health professions. The meeting will cover future coursework, general information on required GPA, cultivating letters of recommendation, and shadowing, as well as other components leading to a strong application profile.
